Taking a VH4 head and making it into a rack version? Sorry been asked before, and I know plans are in the works are for a rack VH4. Just curious. Thanks guys

Well, I have no idea how you think this could be done

The VH4 is way to wide and you would have to cut circuit board... well actually redo the complete amp. I don't see any way of doing this.

yeah that is what I was thinking since the tubes are vertical unlike most rack pre or power amps they are horizontal. But then again the "Racktifier" I think has the tubes upright.

It is not so much a question of the way the tubes sockets are built in, the problem is the PCB and all the contral layout etc. which is all designed to take the full space available in the housing.

If peter made a rack version of the VH4, or Einstein, I would be all over it. Or any rack gear, for that matter. :D

Yeah man I would love a Rack VH4(S). (Yeah the VH4 is my drug of choice ;) the herbie is nice, but was not my bag and I never had an einstein)Lugging that head and flight case to gigs......weighs like 90 pounds. Would like a nice 4 space rack, as I don't need much but the power and preamp, and 3-4 pedals, or instead of pedals a G-force. but then again when I had the G-Force I was not all that impressed with the chorus tone on it.

Send your VH4 to China and tell them you want it redesigned to be able to fit in a rackmount chassis.

Pay the engineers their money and then pay the child laborers in China to pump out the lowcost rackmount VH4s for the masses.

I know someone who did something similar with a computer part and the copyright lawyers in states came down on him hard. Seized assets the whole bit. :gethim:

I'm not sure if thats really the case. Peter said once that he would like to do rack gear some time but he never ever said that he is going to convert a certain amp into a rack version.

Yeah, years ago he told me he was going to work on a motorized knobbed rack amp. I don't think it's coming. But it'd be cool.
