hello guys

has anyone tryed the warpig or other BKP on VH4???

how do they sound?

thanks a lot

what do you play? in general I'd recommend starting with ceramic nailbombs for getting the taste of BKPs. something like warpig is way too unique for general use.

When my buddy comes by tonight if I remember I can make a clip of his guitar through my VH4, it's actually my old guitar, haha. It has a Ceramic Nailbomb.

You can try the nailbombs or miracle man or just save your money and stick to EMGs. I'd stick to EMGs unless it's for recording.

Maybe you could ask to Tim @ BKP about pickups for that music style and your guitars. He will really help you on choosing the right pickups.

Cheers!
Raul.

I have a Painkiller in my PRS SC250. Sounds great through my VH4. Gotta dial the gain back a bit other-wise it's way more compressed than normal. I prefer it through my Herbert more though. The painkiller has a little bit of a mid-spike that I need to dial out though. Nothing drastic like a JB.

Actually, I have other guitars with Motor City Pick-Ups (ESP Horizon with an Afwayu (A5), ESP Horizon with a Solution (A-Custom) and a PRS standard with a Hellbaby set (A3). All of these pick-ups are better than the BK for my tastes. I also had an Alnico Nailbomb that I hated in my LP custom, but liked a little better in a PRS SC250.

If you want a super clear, high output, tight, well-balanced pick-up, look no further than the Motor City Hell Baby. If the Warpig interests you, I suggest you check-out the Solution from Motor City.

now i have i KL exp under construction
i already have 7 guitars with EMG's so i looking for something different,
i do really love my Gibby LPC with stock 490R-498T
i have heard great things about the BKP's so that why i am askig

i am considering to put a Dimarzio PAF pro in the neck and i need something for the bridge

i am replacing my paf pro's as soon as my motor city "detroiter's" come in.. those should match up with that paf pro in the neck really well..

Well, I used to use 498/498 a lot, a great set of pickups. That said I can't see going back from BKPs back to 490/498, whichever set it is. It is also worth mentioning that BKPs have a quality to their sound which you may like or hate, especially noticeable with the ceramic ones.

Actually the painkiller to me sounded like the high quality version of duncan distortion. I t was a great pickup, but too scooped for my taste.

Sue has a Les Paul with alnico nailbombs, they LOVE the VH4.

Pigs are a great pickup, but as said above, kinda specialised, they are surprisingly versatile but Nailbombs work wonders.

Cold Sweats would probably be another good call.

As some others have said, you really cant go wrong with BKP...(at least, way much better than EMG for sure).

I cant tell you about VH4, but I can tell you about Herbert and BKP...

My experience??? BKP are the best pickups you can put.

I have an ESP MXII with Miracle Man, and sounds really amazing !!!. I've also have a Caparison Angelus with Ceramic Nailbomb which is absolutly amazing !!! and other ones, like a ESP Ninja with new Ceramic Warpig that stands like hell.. What else ??? (yeah,m I also have 2 other guitars, BCRich mockingbird and Caparison Orbit with Alnico Nailbomb and they are amazing as well).

You really have many pickups to choose, and I really think you can go wrong. Almost all of them would work amazing great with the Diezels and with your music.

If I had to choose for your KL, I'd get the C-NB or the MM... They are winners for sure !!! ;)

If you like EMG's but want to go for some Bare Knuckles, the closest would be the Miracle Man. Tim designed that to be his version of an EMG, but passive. To me, it has the EMG vibe but way more open, much wider frequency range and just more harmonically rich.

The other pickups mentioned in earlier posts are great too, but the Miracle Man is the closest thing BKP has to an EMG, if that's what you're looking for. If you want something a little more organic and raw with similar output, try the Nailbomb. It has an Alnico V magnet as opposed to ceramic, so it will be more natural in the mids and clean up better too. BKP has so many great pickups....it's all about knowing what tone you want and choosing the right one.

Dont forget you can ask Tim to make the Nailbomb in Ceramic !!! (Believe me, it really rocks !!! I have 2 Alnico Nailmbombs guitars and 1 ceramic, all of them amazing ;) ).

Maybe it's a bit OT, but.. between Motor Citys and BKPs, which ones do you all prefer?
