Has anyony tried 490T in the bridge?

Yeah, it's like a 498, but not as hot. Think of something between a PAF and a 498, and you have the 490.
 
I played an SG loaded that had a 490 in the bridge, and an LP Jr with a 498 in the bridge, and a 490 in the neck. In comparing the SG and the Jr, the pickups seemed to have about the same frequency response. --The 490 in the neck of the Jr seemed to be less muddy sounding than other pickups that I've used in the neck position.
 
the 490t does come across as having less treble than the 498, but only because its not quite as hot. to me, the 490t sounds more "squashed" than the 498. although both pickups seem to offer a fairly large amount of compression, especially on my vh4.

i agree that it lies somewhere between a paf ('57) and a 498... 490s seem to have a less dynamic tone than 498s; with a slightly tighter frequency range and a not quite as "open" tone.
