Hey all,

First off let me say thanks to Terry, he helped me out and checked to see if the amp had been worked on by any Diezel certified techs or at the factory and there was no record of it so that helps a bit in trying to figure out whats going on. He was also very nice about it all and helpful! Thanks again.

Now, I could really use some help here - I got this Einstein a few months back under the pretense that it was basically brand new 100% stock and mint, it looked like it smelled like it and functioned well with no issue, hell it even came in the original box however; I had it into my tech for what turned out to just be a preamp tube issue, easy fix but while it was in there he noticed that my amp had been worked on... I said no way he had to be mistaken, but after examining the way it was worked on someone just clipped the leads of the old components and soldered new ones into the existing leads so there's no question someone has been tinkering inside this amp.

My question is if the components that were replaced are changing the tone of the amp or are of the stock value, obviously there will be variance even if the components are the same value and different brands. I have attached a picture and circled the two components I noticed that were replaced - I don't know the value of the center but I think the bottom cap is a F&T 500v 22uf if I recall correctly (I might be slightly off on the 22 number I don't have it in front of me at the moment). The middle component I'm unable to locate any markings on, but it has definitely been replaced. If anyone notices anything else that looks unusual please tell me as well!!! Any issues with this amp I would like to get fixed, because honestly it's the only amp on the market that really meets my needs and I don't have the money to drop on another one...

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks for your time.

Mine is the same way, the filter capacitors had a bad run and you'd get like a motorboat type of sound in the background...easiest cleanest way to replace is to snip the leads and solder in new caps. No big deal, no change in tone. You can tell if they are going if the electrolight is leaking out of the end where the wires come out, it'll look white and a little foamy. You're good to go, nothing to worry about and actually good if they were changed becuase now you don't have to change them yourself. Enjoy the roar!

Glad to help Dallas...start with all the tone controls at noon and you'll be in tone heaven. Mine just sounds so right with any guitar I plug into it...they all have their personality but all sounds just fantastic thru this amp. Enjoy!
