Hey everyone,

New to the forum and a bit ignorant when it comes to amps so any advice would be appreciated. My rig is as follows

Guitar: LTD EC-1000 Deluxe MGO (Duncan Alnico II humbuckers)
Pedals: Just a BOSS ME-70
Amp: Tweaker 40 head into a 2x12 Tourmaster Cab (running mono at 8ohms)

I've set the amp up with my first channel as clean, second channel dirty, then was hoping to use my ME-70 for a solo boost. However when I hit the solo boost I don't seem to get any extra volume, only more distortion. I've tried using a Tubescreamer as well with the gain at 0 and the level cranked with the same results.

Any advice?

Have you tried A BBE green screamer you get quite a bit oF volume boost with it. same with the Bad monkey as well

If only clean boost for solos is what you're looking for, I'd recommend putting an eq in the loop. I have a Boss GE-7 that works perfectly. Leave it off until you solo, then kick it on. You can achieve anything from a slight boost, to something so loud that nobody could use it = ultimate range of versatility.

The cool thing is that you don't really even have to boost the volume. Just boost a couple of key frequencies and your tone will pop out to the front of the mix. Of course, there is plenty of volume boost on tap too if that's what you desire.

Good luck.

Put it in the loop. More punch to the front end will only compress it more and add more gain. That is when you are on the gain channel. For volume boost, put an EQ or similar in the loop.
