Here are the first studio shots of the Hedgehog 50 prototype head and cabinet that were shown at NAMM. We're rebuilding the Hedgehog to be more production-friendly right now. John would also like to do a 100w version as well. The final version will have a lighter-shade wood like Flame Maple for the front panel on both the head and the cab. The logo will probably be updated as well to be more subtle - no eagle on the background (like on the cabinet).

it is hell of a looker Ed

what are the specs of the head? I see there is some serious buttons going on there... can you wright some more info, please? :)

I for one love the look of the eagle in the burned logo. Wish it could stay just like the one on the NAMM amp. Gorgeous, different. If somebody asked me before I saw it, "what about a wood panel above the controls with a logo burned into it?" I would have said, "yuck, no thanks." But then seeing it first, wow. Might even convince the wife this *is* a nice piece of furniture for the living room! :D

Looks great Ed, glad to hear about the Flame Maple panels, I was really hoping that would be an option. Also, great news on the 100 watt as well. Can hardly wait to get my mitts on this badboy.

P.S It'd be even more awesome if as a custom option you could have the flame maple front stained any of the suhr transparent colors to match your guitar!

All the switches are programable into presets, those buttons lite up when active. They are all still relays that are being controlled so there is no damage to the tone..
You can program the switches from the amp or the pedalboard (if you get the larger version) Very easy.... tap... overdrive, bright , boost, effects parallel for instance, happy with the tone? press store and a location for the preset. With the standard 4 preset you do the same thing at the amp, the big pedalboard is 6 presets plus you have instant access to any switch and program from either the amp or the board. You can also use midi for switching for over 100 presets. Loop can be changed on the fly from series to parallel or off

I am so interested in this puppy!

Just the brief encounter I had observing it at namm really impressed me and neil's raving about it didn't help one bit!

Bouncy yet not oppressive lows, clear punchy mids, chimey spanky highs, and the ability to switch from boutiquey cleans and grit to meat and potatoes roar..... I'm IN!

Feel free to send neil out with it for some beta testing :)

tnx for the answer mr. John :)

it sounds like a dream come true.... I'am always been fan of midi programing and lots of sounds but for good results you need minimum 6 or 8 unit rack with millions of switches, cables, converters,.... but this head could easy be THE one for me... I'am big fan of your work and can't wait to hear some clips of this great looking head... one more question... because there is 6 presets can I dial in a good hard rock drive tone or it is all fenderish?

Hey,

I had read on another forum that there will be a Suhr branded PT-50 with the programmable presets coming out ,and around the same price as the Hedgehog .If this is correct .that is AWESOME.
the Pt clips are killing me

BUt I can hear it is not PTP!!!!!!

Kidding John!!!! Killer sounding amp

I agree this looks like a killer package ..so basically you get 4 programmable tones that you can recall with the std board at shipping?

John can you confirm if there will be a higher gain version of the Hedgehog .I thought I had read somewhere that there would be
was it just a rumour??

Yes. You get 4 programmable settings. Select a combination of switches from the pedal board or the amp front panel. Store that setting to one of the preset switches. We will be including a 3 button footswitch that can provide 4 presets (all off is preset 1). Settings will be programmed at the amp. The pedalboard that we made for NAMM was a full blown system to demo the amp functionality. Perhaps we'll make that available if the demand is high. The head is MIDI controllable, so it can connect to existing systems.

Thanks Bob ,

Still wondering about a higher gain version of this platform though .
Can you tell me anything about that .
I had thought it was to be based on a Pt50 with presets under the Suhr name about $2500.

I could have readthe spec wrong though .
