Just throwing this out to any Helios owners. I just picked got a Helios Friday and am wondering if anyone knows the v1-v5 preamp tube layout...mine has no manual and did not see this info on the online manual? Most specifically which is V1? Is it the one on the end of chassis on right looking at chassis from front? or the one in middle of chassis closer to transformers? Thanks

Also this amp absolutely kills, the 70s mode in the hot input on the gain channel is worth the price of admission in itself! I will get some youtube clips up soon. Brightest Bogner ever but in a good way

Congrats! It is a great amp. V1 is (I'm pretty sure) the slot closest to the end, away from the power tubes and trannies.

Typically the closest one to the input jack in most amps.

Hey chumbucket thanks for the tip and thanks for the Helios! I don't know if break in for amps is a real phenomenon but I'm starting to wonder? Took the chassis out of the headshell to bias tubes (they were set fairly low 28 ma and I upped it to 35 ma) and bogner himself signed the inside of the chassis next to the board with his initials and the date of Sept 3. So the amp is just barely over 2 months old, I don't know if they burn them in like some companies and not sure how many hrs you or whoever had it before you put on it but I'm wondering if it had really low hrs. I had it cranked up to 10 to 12 oclock on the 70's hot input for about 10 hrs this weekend (which is quite loud) and I swear it just keeps getting sweeter sounding from when I first plugged in Friday! Sounds incredible.

Your ears are getting broken in. ;-)

That is really cool about RB signing it!

How is the clean sound on this amp? It sounds good on the YoutTube videos, but I am thinking having a clean channel EQ will limit your options quite a bit?

It is a really interesting clean sound, but it is NOT a Fender clean if that is what you want.
