I just started getting a loud squeal on channel 2 of my Einstein combo. The sequel comes when the gain knob goes above 2:00 o'clock. It varies in pitch as the gain knob is advanced.

I changed out all the preamp tubes and the 2 power tubes hoping to find it through process of elimination....no luck. Thought for sure it was a preamp tube

Any info would be greatly appreciated. I'm in New York ,USA. Not looking to ship to California or Germany :scared:

Here is a link to a video clip I made showing the trouble....

Thanks for any input ;)

I could see that being a great stage effect, considering the gain on the 2nd channel isn't really usable above 11 o'clock. :)

No problem to cut the gain, should I ?

You definitely should. I think it'd be really cool if you could use the 2nd channel as a crunchy rhythm channel as well. I plan to put 12AT7s into mine to tame it. Tried the reverb 12AT7 in V2 and it helped a lot to get more usable range. With 12AX7 in V2 the gain at 11 o'clock is more than enough for any high gain shred solo madness I'd ever want.

It´s possible to solder a 47kohm or a 100kOhm
acroos the gainpot to reduce gain.

Interesting. How much would this cut gain?

Hmmm ...... it feels like 25% and 50% on both resistors.
Haven´t measured it in dB.

Justmc - what did you end up doing to your amp to get it working? I am having similar problem.

thanks,

brian

I use the gain on channel 2 at 12 or 1 oclock, and there is no problem.
I don't think it's not usable...
I'm addicted to higain :aww:
