My Renegade 112 is only a couple of months old. I love the sound of it, but now it's making all kinds of noises. I'm getting a kind of white noise/static/buzz when I play most notes, but it goes away when I stop playing. Also turning the amp off and on seems to quiet it down for a while, but then it comes back. I'm also getting a kind of buzz/rattle when I play B above middle C, which is only slightly less annoying than the other noise.

Any suggestions? Should I pull out the tubes and re-seat them? Should I replace the tubes (they're brand new!) ???

I have a huge gig to play in NYC this weekend (some of it is quiet jazz) and everyone will hear the noise. I'm ready to go out and rent an amp if I can't get this thing to quiet down.

P.S. The fan is pretty noisy but I can live with it

P.P.S. Did I mention I love the sound of this amp (when it's working)?

Try the simple stuff first (even though the rattle noise sounds like a bad tube or solder joint). Try swapping you instrument cable. If you use effects disconnect them. I can't begin tell you how many times it has just been the cable.

I just spent 45 minutes playing through the amp with a shorter cable and Noise #1 did not appear. Can there be some weird interaction between the preamp tubes and the cable length? All of my cables are pretty high quality (Whirlwind Leader).

I've had this mystery before too, but my cables were of questionable quality.
I thought they were high quality because I made them myself, turns out they just produced shitty tone.
Must have been the material I used because my soldering skills are top notch.

Chair Wheels do terrible things to instrument cables. Have you used another cable of the same length and did it generate noise?

Good point. I practice sitting in an office chair and it rolls over my cables (especially the long ones) all the time. It never dawned on me that it could be damaging the cables.

Its most likely a bad pre amp or power tube..The sovteks they use arent the best candidiate
