Hi, new to the forum...a lot of great info here. I would appreciate any help fixing my problem. On my renegade 2x12 combo, channel 1 is signifigantly quiter than channel 2 when gain and volume settings are set the same on each channel. I looked at the tube diagram that I found the link to on this site and it looked like I should swap pre-amp tubes 1 +2 with 3+4 to see if the problem followed.....it did not...ch1 was still quieter, I am new to tube amps, can someone with experience let mw know if I am swapping the right tubes, or give me any adive or steps to take to try and resolve this porblem....I have had this amp about 5 months and am the original owner..............thanks.............vin

Try dialing in channel 1 to taste then dial in channel 2 to level it out, unless channel 1 is louder then reverse them steps

Each channel has it's own volume so you can balance them to your liking...Given equal settings, the clean channel will typically be quieter than the gain channel. FWIW, my channel 2 volume knob is always lower than my channel 1 knob in order for volume balance when switching channels.

Thanks for the responses....How much of a difference is there between your gain and volume settings per channel to get equal volume.....I dont get to play as much as I would like b/c of family and such, but its seems to me I dont remember their being such a difference last time i fired it up. I am going to write down my settings for equal volume when I get home, so I can try and give some comparative data, thanks again..................vin

ok, so to get the same volume on each channel [ch1 gain 9'oclock volume 3-4o'clock] [ch2. vol 9 and gain 9]. For simplicity purposes all other knobs are at 12 and dip switches up. To me this seems like more of a jump then i remember, any feedback is appreciated............thanks..........vin

sounds about right, the more gain you add the louder it gets, but channel 1 is a clean/semi clean channel  Oh,does it still sound good??

Having the gain for channel 1 only at 9 o'clock seems really low. I run it at 12-1:30 and it still pristinely clean. At gain of 9 o'clock, the volume would be really low on my amp as well. I think that's the problem. Run it higher, the sound will still be clean, but you wont have to run the channel volume as high. I've also noticed that the sound thickens up and is more full sounding(yet still clean) around 12-1. At 9, it sounds thin and weak, by hey, ymmv...
