Hi

I just got my new herbert a few months ago and today I was playing as normal when I heard this loud click and then saw one of the tubes light up very bright, after that the amp just turned off and is not dead (wont even turn on when i hit the power switch). Im hoping this is no big deal but dont really know as this is my first tube amp.

I did notice that one of the fuses on the back is burned out, but i dont know if the solution is as simple as replacing the fuse, is it normal for the amp not to turn on when missing a fuse? And to replace the fuse, a simple hardware store fuse will work right?

Thanks in advance.

check the main's fuse. it is gone. replace it and the tube. there should be a spare one in the fuse drawer. if you have to buy one, go to radio shack and get a 5A slo-blo fuse. fire it up and rock on  .....

sorry for my lack of knowledge on the subject... The fuse for tubes 1/2 is gone ... Where is the fuse drawer?

Do I need to replace the tube also.. considering the amp has only a few hours playing time, or could it be possible that the fuse simply went.....How do i know ?

If i do need to change the tube how do i know which one blew, and do i just take old one out then new one in? or do i need to mess with bias, etc ... Ive never owned a tube amp so i have no idea... Thanks again

The drawer is incl in the mains jack.

Pull the faulty tube and the corresponding too.
You have 6 tubes.
1-2-3-4-5-6
corresponding pairs are
1-6
2-5
3-4
You need to pull the pair.
Order new tubes (a pair)
Rebias the pair

You can play with he pulled pair (with 4 powertubes) without a problem.

Thanks peter, Ill be contacting the dealer 1st thing monday. Just so I know .. what are the exact tubes that come stock in the herbert? I want to replace the dead ones with the same tubes

Deoends on the serial #

Do You have a picture of the tube

I think I found it out... It is of course written insider on the tube .. duh

Final question I have is: I was having extreme trouble removing the blown fuse because the fuse holder was stripped (not sure why, I have never touched it)

But

Can I buy this replacement fuse holder at a place like radio shack (if so , is it a specific size I should be looking for) If not, should I contact diezel direct for a replacement fuse holder? Thanks

The Herbert tube fault fuse holder should not strip. They need to be inserted at a certain angle and they will lock in place.
Try again slowly applying light pressure until it is seated all the way in, then slowly turn it right.

The issue im having with the tube fuse holder is: i can insert it (it pops in) but I cannot turn it to the tight because the plastic part is 'stripped' or deformed. I think Im going to need a new one... Do I need this direct form diezel?

Anyone know the answer to this? Maybe I should contact Diezel directly?
