I'm in a three-piece punk/rock band and do typical loud shows but trying to expand to acoustic shows so we can play more places, ro something different, etc.

I've been looking at getting something below $600 for one speaker. The plan is that i get one for vocals and my guitar and my bass player will do the same.

I'm looking for something 1000 watts, fairly light, and dependable and sounds great. I've been looking at the Yamaha DBR12 and DBR10 and now saw the QSC CP8 and CP12. I have a Fly Rig Acoustic pedal to run into either one for an easy to move rig. Wondering if you guys have any experience with these and dig them?

I don't have DBR's I have DXR10's, the original ones circa '18. They are a bit above your price range, $800 each for the new ones, 1100 watts. They are a really quality speaker with quite a bit of punch. HOWEVER, if you were gigging old school unmic'ed punk band stuff with 100 watts and 1/2 stacks you are gonna need bigger speakers. Probably 4 of the 10/12 inch cabs, to put vocals over the guitars. Or maybe a couple 2x12's with horn cabs=$$$$

I have yet to find a bad piece of gear that says Yamaha on it except their golf carts. And I've never seen junk QSC stuff but I haven't owned that brand. Before I had this Yamaha PA I was using a bandmate's unpowered Yamaha cabs and a Yamaha powered mixer. Now I have a little Yamaha mixer. I don't think you can make a bad decision here. Someone was recommending the DBR's for my wife in an acoustic thread the other day and had great things to say about them.

Oh yeah, we would only use these for acoustic punk stuff, meaning our typical songs but played with acoustic guitars. For our regular shows, we would just use the house P.A.

I'm looking for a setup where we could go to a coffee shop or brewery without a P.A. and just do quieter stuff, if that makes sense.

Forum member velcro-fly has DBR's. Might wanna page him or PM him. For whatever reason I cannot "@" his name and get it to alert him.

Thanks! He might have jumped in that other post I had awhile back, I can't remember.
Yes, that was the one. I double checked and it was your thread. He really seemed to like the DBR he was using but he only used it for his acoustic alone and not vocals. My experience with the DXR's is they would work fine for both mixed together, no problem at all.

He showed me a country player using one for vocals and guitar and sounded great. Like he said in a pm, those acoustic amps are great but you get what you pay for with the cheaper ones.
