Hi everyone, I need some help getting the most out of my HG Jose. Mark did the mod for me in 2004. I have heard alot of clips on youtube, and while alot of the clips were utilizing a boost pedal, it seems my jose isnt nailing some of those tones. If anyone has one of these how are you eq'ing it? where are your bright switches? and your depth control? or rear preamp? There is alot to this amp that maybe I have yet to explore. I usually play with the push/pull pot in the "out" position. As a side note, I hope Mark turns this whole thing around. I spoke with him on and off for a year while he was building this amp and he was a very friendly insightful guy with a great talent. His amps really do sound amazing, and even though it may seem like a bad idea now, I would really love a CCM one day. Any help you guys can give me would be great.

tung-sol in V1 with C9 in the rest, and SED =C= power tubes.

English Greenback cab or Weber pre-rola.

push/pull in more than out, maybe out for leads or low volume.

good boost set for a clean boost.

Make sure you are plugging into the high gain input (many of Mark's HG Jose's have LG & HG inputs). Also be sure to pull out the compression knob that may be on your Master Volume. Use old Svet's or SED EL34 power tubes and try a Sovtek LPS in V1 and Chinese in V2 & V3. I also use EH in a few spots.....just a matter of what you dig...:-)

My HG Jose settings are as follows(1-10):

Gain 1 = 6
Gain 2 =6
Bass = 6
Mid = 4.5
Treble = 6
Presence = 5.5
Bright 1 = Down
Bright 2 = Down
Bass Boost = 6.5
Freq = 5
Attenuation = Full

Speakers....try Weber 1225, Scumback M75, H30, Heritage 25, 65's, etc......
Stay away from V30's and T75's IMHO. You should not need any pedals with a proper funtioning HG Jose....

Good Luck!
Todd
