Right now I have my Chorus, Tremolo and Reverb/Delays on the loop, and all distortion stompboxes in front of the amp.

I really want to use the Parallel Loop, because of the "Dry Signal at all times"...but the thing is, if I want for example the full Tremolo effect, I have to place the EFFECTS mix at 100%, and that's when it starts sounding weird (doesn't sound like the dry signal is coming trough, and changes the tone as in the Serial Loop). Same thing if I want to do some U2 style delays...

I have a Mesa DC-3 with the Mix always at 100% and this doesn't happen, maybe I'm doing something wrong, maybe I have to change the placement of the pedals. What do you guys recommend?.

Are you making sure the other FX in the loop are bypassed and that pedal mix is 100% wet?

i personally would run the chorus and tremolo in front of the amp unless you are specifically doing hard cuts with the tremolo on a distorted tone.

i found myself using the series loop on the egnater because it works so well..

i agree here. i use series efx loops almost 100% of the time (except when using the reverb tank!).

If you think the tone changes in the serial loop, it may be that the effects are instrument level and not line level. You may need something like an ebtech line level shifter.

Chances are that with the Mesa DC-3 Mix at 100%, the loop becomes serial. This is not the case with the MOD50 at 100% on the parallel loop; it's true parallel which is rare.

Marco, I'm confused. Does this mean that with the Mod50 Parallel loop set at 100%, that would still somehow be 100% wet AND 100% dry signal simultaneously?

Think of the mix control as a volume control for your effects. Which is nice, at home I might run it at 4:00, then at the gig in a more ambient room I may cut it back to 2:00. Make sense?

Marco, I understand that... using it as a volume control for the effects.

I guess my Q is: what's the difference between a true parallel loop at 100% mix, and one that turns into "Series" at 100% like on the Mesa...

Well, for example let’s say a Marshall TSL100. The effects mix control is a balance control between the dry signal and the effect. At 100% effect, it becomes a serial loop (and not a good one as some dry is still present). So if you have a processor that does not allow for 100% wet signal or does not have a ‘Kill Dry’ you can set the loop to 100% and mix the wet/dry with the processor.

The MOD50 parallel loop always allows the dry signal to pass unaffected. For this to work correctly, your processor need to allow 100% wet signal or has a ‘kill Dry function’. Otherwise you could be dealing with phasing issues if two dry signals were being mixed especially if the processor introduced any latency passing the dry signal through its converter.

Basically, set the mix on the MOD50 at about 3:00 and get your effect (reverb/delay) at the level you like set to 100% wet. This way you can always cut/add effect level with the mix control as you need. Note: It may be necessary to dime the mix knob to get the same level on the effect compared to having it in front of the amp; that depends on the effect.

Thanks guys for your responses...I guess that what I'm hearing when I set it up to 100% are the Phasing issues Marco mentioned...

And about the tremolo, I'll have to test it in front of the amp to see how I like it.

I'll keep doing some testing with the Series Loop, and see which pedal is ruining it.

+1. Exactly how I have mine set.
