Tone tubby I thought... it would be interesting if eminence is though.

TT makes 'em and DAMN if I don't fancy myself a set...!!

I've been on this radical "alnico hempcone alternative driver" M.O. as of late. I want "different"...so I'm looking for it

Dang. I was hoping they weren't TT's. lol. Eminence is cheaper in price! These hemp cones, are they the 40/40's or the Alnico Tone Tubby or the San Rafael?

They are the Tone Tubby 40/40s ceramic hempcone speakers.

I go in and out of this phase but in the end I really don't think alnico would be suited for the metal I play...

Granted... But I don't play a lot of metal. I play everything but country. My original stuff is a mix of hard rock/progressive rock/tool'ish type ambient stuff/with the hard edged blues format of string wrenching. Think Slash-meets-AdamJones-meets-Frusciante style of music. No serious chuggah chuggah, and if so, it's short lived.

I recently rebuilt this Class A 30W amp and installed a Celestion Gold into it and am blown away with its tone. Just perfect. But ya, they may not be the money in a more hard-core groove. I also have a 4x12 coming with the new XTC (20thA) and I was thinking of swapping out 2 of the V30's with 2 Golds... Always thinking.

Peace,
V.

+1
Thats what ive got in my 4X12. I was selling 2 of them but i have 1 left if you want to buy it like new. Im using 2 of them and 2 GK100's in an X config!
Action!

The tone tubbies are great, we use a 4x12 of them rl with a 4x12 (both Diezel) of V30's fl, they complement each other really well. The TT's provide a really nice broad and balanced sound with great high articulation and tones of low end, but they don't have quite the punch of a V30, more of a thump, but really great tone.

LoL I'm using a 2x12 with a V30 and a alnico TT.Has anyone tried 2 alnico's.I know most swear buy the bomb set up..i.e. 1 alnico and 1 ceramic.I know in my current set up the V30 overides the TT.Would apprec any thoughts.Oh yeah using a 100 wtt einy.

I keep hearing people say other speakers they have mixed with the TT overpower it and I am confused.

AFAIK there are only a handful of speakers out there that match up to the 102DB sensitivity, the eminence wizard, swamp thing, the scumback XH series, are a few.

the v30 is 100db and the the k100 is 99db.

3BD= twice as loud perceived volume.

I am wondering if there is some high frequency content of the non hempcone speakers that accounts for this. :dunno:

Chiming in on this discussion.. I play an Einstein through a 212 oversized Bogner cab, loaded with V30's. I have been thinking of changing one of the V30's for a ToneTubby. Now I see some guys on here with Ceramic TT's or Alnico TT's... What's the difference??

I would appreciate some input on changing a V30 for a TT hempcone; hell, maybe I'll change both. Just curious as to what it would sound like. As Diezel obviously recommends hempcones in a rearloaded 212 for rock music.... ??

Alnico is sweeter with more compression, less push/grit.
