Just got from Doug's Tubes 4 Ruby EL34BSTR and 2 Ruby 6550A-STRS, biased the Herbert up and I can now say it exceeds my last Herbert. She sounds very 3Dish and has some serious depth. Do not know if it was the age of the other tubes or simply adding the 6550's to the mix but I am very happy!!!!

Thanks for the recommendations in my other thread, I appreciate it. Now time to get offline and go play some more

I finally installed my new tubes in my Herbert today from Laura (valvequeen.com). Mine are 4 Winged C EL34's and 2 outer Winged C 6550's. The sound is excellent and really came to life.

What did you bias your new tubes at?

EL34's were at 65mA and 6550s at 90mA, how about you? Let us know your results as well.

THE 6550 tubes give some serious punch, try all 6 but youll Lose warmth. À combo like you guys have works but its either THE one or THE other in THE end, trut me :D

I went with Peter's recommendations and set the 3 pairs at 60ma.
