Santa dropped me off a new guitar for xmas ...PRS cu22..been a gibson guy for years, but im diggn the cu22...just not the dragon 2's in bridge so Im in the market. Thinking about MCP DETROITER or bare knuckle riff raff, rio grande BBQ bucker.

The MCP is in the lead right now...I keep going back and forth on what Im going to get lol

If I answer to your question in the topic header:
- 8 string custom Häussels
- 8 string BKP Black Dogs
- 7 string Lundgren M7 + Air Norton
- 7 string D-Sonic + Evolution (not really liking)
- 7 string Blaze Custom + Blaze Neck
- 6 string Rebel Yell -set (x2)

Out of all these, the winner is Gibson LP with 6 string BKP Rebel Yell -set.

I might get into trouble with this comment, but as soon as I installed BKP Rebel Yells into my LP, I also swappen them to my another LP to replace BKP Nailbomb Alnico -set which I was never really happy. :scared:

wow the nailbombs are pretty hot..I was thinking of going with a low output in it but after hearing from you guys the nail bombs and SS are on the list as well now lol ...the dragon 2's in the cu22 just done jive with me ..the neck has to much treb..hardly any bottom...and the neck is the complete difference .. way to much bass. But i kinda dig the cu22 its a nice change...alittle flashy for me since pretty much all my guitars except a few vintage natural SG's have been black ...the LPC is still my fav guitar that Ive ever owned

i.ak... i have suhr aldrich in hte bridge of my 89 les paul custom ..love it ...had a duncan custom custom in it when i got it 5 or 6 years ago ..its wasnt bad but it was hot hot lol

if you wanna stay with PRS try 57/08s or the lil hotter 59/09s.
didn't like dragon 2 neither.
nailbombs are way hotter and i really like 'em, but i stay with 59/09s.
at least on my PRSs!

When I had my Herbert.....I 1st started out with EMG's....thought it sounded great...
Until a buddy of mine brang over his guitar with Suhr Aldrich Pickups it in....
Sounded so damn good....I switched out within a week. :D

I've been using BK Aftermaths in my Schecter 7 string w/ the Herb. I dig it but might be looking to swap with a lower output pup.

I'm using EMG's mostly for the herbert right now... With techdeath you don't really want dynamics. works well with what i'm doing at this point in time... I'm doing some recording right now for some hard rock stuff and kinda wishing i had some BKP aftermaths....

Well I kinda like pickups in cu22 through the Herbert. I also am really liking BKP Warpigs, and the P90's in my 7. I think my favorites right now though are my KxK pickups that are wound similar to the BKP Emerald's. very clear, punchy, and very capable of extreme death metal tones as well. Which is what I generally play.

Although, if I'm being honest, I haven't really found anything that doesn't sound good through the Herbert. :)

Get a Bareknuckle Nailbomb set with Alnico 5

YES!!! I use the Nailbomb with the Herbert (both ceramic and alnico) and it absolutely slays. Ditto the Aftermath.

How about painkiller or holydiver? How do they compare to Nailbombs? Thinking of getting bareknuckles but dont know which yet. I play metal.

Holydiver sounded a bit muddy to me through the Herbert. I'd go with the Painkiller. I'm telling you though, there is basically no way you will be disappointed with a C-Bomb. Best BKP pickup bar none for metal, IMO.

put the aldrich in the cu22 ...wow sounds so mean and tight ....deff dig it. cant wait till we get are new practice space tomarrow ...and its on

Hey guys, I've got the Suhr Aldrich in my guitar and running it through the Herbert too, but I feel there is not quite enough sting or bite. For example, when I do a pinch harmonic it's there, but not for long. There's no real sustain. The attack is good the distortion is good, but not quite enough. So my question is has anyone compared the Suhr-Aldrich pickup to the Painkiller or the nailbomb? I'm looking for a little bit more out of my pickup, but without a lot of extra distortion.

Thanks for any help?

Bareknuckle! Some people swear by pairing medium-output BKPs with the Diezel amps, like below 10kOhm was one those suggested limits flying around... it hammers the preamp less and gives you a bit more "bloom", lets you hear a bit more of the gain structure; the Diezel amps give you all the clarity and gain and punch you could ever want so you don't necessarily have to go ultra-high-output to get more, the amp is doing it all for you, so you can "relax" a little on the pickup-output side.

Of course that also depends on what you are playing and if you want or need the tons of focus you get from a high-output pup! Alnico Nailbombs are definitely one of those great modern allrounders, probably one of BKP's most popular pups; Aftermaths especially for extended-range-guitars, Painkillers for a very aggressive, cutting tone, Warpigs for more deep "brutality". Or so is my own take on some of their most popular pickups.

You can also email BKP directly, give them an idea about your gear and the tone/feel you want, what's important for you and they usually reply very quickly with suggestions!

DiMarzio Tone Zone is my favorite. Not only sounds great with the Herbert but with ANY amp. I can't say that for any other pickup yet.
