Is there any difference, sound-wise, between an older Herbert without the external bias points, and a newer one with them?

I'm looking to buy a Herbert, but I'm wondering if the price difference between the two versions is really worth it. I don't mind working inside the amp for biasing it for new tubes, though the external points would be more convenient for sure; but if there's no sound difference, I'd obviously rather go the cheaper route

Well, in fact the newer Herberts haven't got external bias points

Some weeks ago Peter announced here a new Herbert version, the MK2, with some changes mainly in the clean channel. Here you have got the announcement:

About your question, i cannot help you too much, I've never played any herbert... :aww:

Best,
Raul.

I know the external bias points were removed because it was illegal to have user servicable parts on the outside of the amplifier.
So to get your versions straight, you have:

"Old" version without external bias points > Version with exteral bias points > "new" version without external bias points > Mk II version without external bias points.

I'm sure soundwise they all sound great and you can't really here all that much difference between them.
