Herbert noise concern

Hi ppl, I have just bought a Herbert in the last week, and there are some noise concerns. I was playing the other night and started hearing noise similar to that of a scratchy guitar jack. I changed cables, and guitars to isolate the issue, and yet very infrequently, the noise remained. Finally I isolated it by tapping the head with my finger, andI could hear the same sound produce itself. I also tapped around the silver panel where the dials are located, and again the noise would present itself.

While not really happening while playing, the noise instantly becomes audible when I am tapping the head or the silver faceplate. The sound is almost microphonic in nature.

Has anyone had a similar issue or know of a fix. I did check the board and did a search under Diezel noise, but did not pull any results that were similar in nature to my issue. I have emailed a member who had a somewhat similar issue, before posting here. If Peter has any advice I would be very much appreciative.

Regards, Fletch

Hi Fletch !

No easy question. Either the amp is not grounded
in the right way or there is a bad tube. Please
check Your power cable first. Then I would replace
the first 2 preamp tubes with non microphonic
12AX7-Chinese.

Good luck,

Peter

Guten Tag Peter.

please don´t use the translating machine.

V1 is closest to the input

Glad the German translation was humorous for all.

I changed the 12AX7 pre tubes 1-2, and swapped out the EL34's...if anything the popping and scratching got worse, very loud now, even without a guitar connected to the unit. It would be safe to say the Herbert is bordering on unuseable at this stage.... I only got 10 mins out of it before it started emitting the noise issue. Should I have a local tech look at it? I was pumped toget such an awesome amp, but because they are so hard to come by, I think this is going to be in the very hard basket to get this up and running quickly. Any other suggestions would be apprfeciated. Should I get some type of a diagram and try and go exploring myself?

I would drive to the local tech. If he has no idea
please call Uwe at 714 5381285.

Don´t panic, we take care of You.

I pulled out all the 12AX7A tubes from my Road King, and tested the Herbert, and it all appears to be working fine again. I have ordered a complete new set of Ruby's both 12AX7A's and EL34's just to be safe, 12 tubes in all.

On another note, what is up with these blue LED's I just had another one blow. Apparently that is super common in the U.S.A so I heard? I have two blown right now (the mid cut and channel 2) Do you know where I can source a dozen or so to keep me going for a while Peter?

Regards
-Fletch
