i have heard these were all handwired or hand soldered, im not sure what the deal is with that. i know it has a different face than the newer ones. but im not sure if there is any internal difference to the first 30. if anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated.
also any idea what year this might have been made?
any tonal differances between the first 30?
it is hand signed by mr diezel himself as well!

thanks in advance

ALL Diezel's are handmade.

From what I understand the first 30 Herbert's had a little less bass and were tighter. Then they added more low end. Then they added external bias, then tube fault LED's, and the newest have a little more presence.

Just what I've gathered from the forum over the last 2 years, may not be 100%, but I'm 99.5% sure it is.

I posted this earlier, somewhere. I picked up a mk1 Herbert some time ago. One of the first 30 ever made; looked very cool with the different face! Somehow, I ended up selling the amp; didn't like it's sound. Compared to a newer Herbert, the mk1 had a more "closed" sound, if you know what I mean. The newer version was more present; sounded better to my ears... IMO!

Anyway, I asked Peter if there was any way to mod it; make it sound like the newer series. He told me that this was not possible; he could apply a mod, but it would never sound like the new Herbert.

Don't get me wrong: it was a very cool amp! Just not for me, soundwise.
