Herbert serial number check, new Diezel owner

Just bought a Herbert, serial # 001/1040. Anyone know what year this is? I'm guessing fairly late model.

Also, it has 5881 tubes in it, what does everyone think of these in the herb? Obviously slightly more punch and low end than using EL34's?

Iam not a fan 5881's i would try either 6550's or KT88's
