Hey,

I've seen that there are other Setting-Threads for Herbert in general, but I wanted to ask you wich settings you prefer for following sounds:

1) Nice warm clean tone, using it for single note lines and often one-tone-ring-into-another-stuff like for example the Master of Puppets Interlude or the one from All That Remains - Six

2) Fat, Tight, Agressive metal rhythm stuff (Killswitch Engage is one of my favourite, Dark Age is also very nice)

3) Metal Lead Tones (most single note stuff) like Anterior, Bullet for my Valentine, old Trivium (Ascendency), All That Remains

4) Solo Sound that sounds cool (sometimes with wha (dunlop cry baby) ) like Silent Civilian (VERY cool), Anterior, Dark Age

If some of you dont know these bands, tell my wich one and I will post some links ;)

Thanx for help

i have posted settings a ton of times, search is your friend

I know that there are a lot of setting-threads,
but I wanted to ask for the sounds I described (also based on the bands I enumerated).
Thats the reason why I named it Herbert Settings for THESE Sounds :D

@DvE

Cmon your a big guy, and Herbie is really easy to dial. You dont need any settings from other people! Why? You have different ears, diff. guitars(pickups), diff. cables, diff. cabinets, diff. mics etc......

Listen to your songs of interesst, crank him up (Herbie) and keep on rockin`. Belive me....that´s all! And these Sounds you her on CD, you cant achieve only with the amp. If you don´t know why, you have to read a few things about recording.

You are right, I am a big guy and herbie is very cool :D

I was just interested, because I like to get inspired.

For shure you dont reach the sound of the records...

For those, who are interested:

Guitar:
Ibanez PGM 30 (replaced the Pickups to Seymour Duncan SH4 and SH2)
Ibanez Prestige RGA121 NF (replaced the Pickups to EMG 81 and 85)

Box: Mesa Boogie 4x12 Recto Box

For shure you dont reach the sound of the records...

HA.. really?!! I yet have to hear a record that sounds at least as good as my amp in person.

Hehe, I know, what you mean, brother.

A record is digital - no chance comparing to the dynamics of analog live for shure.
I was thinking of doubling guitars and this stuff. I
f you her James Hetfield paying, you hear a lot more than just one guitar... this gives you the feeling like having a whole wall of sound coming from one guitar ^^

Thank you for your sound tipps, I will try ^^

Maybe JB Pickups arent the best for soloing, but they are very dynamic, hot and have a lot of overtones - just the right for playing fat lead riffs which I play most of the time. I also love the EMGs in my other guitar, for metal stuff they kill.

You did a great review and comparison of the Herbert, VH4, XTC and Uberschall by the way

Espacially the sentence "For aggressive rhythm metal players channel 3 & channel 2+ on this amp will probably outperform just about anything, this is the most aggressive metal sound I’ve ever experienced" let my eyes shining :D

Another question: You mentioned to use a special speaker for the herbert. Is this one so much better? And is this the one that is used in Diezel FL Cabinets?

Thanx a lot.
