i bought a 2007 herbert from dimebag11 and i figured i would share a few of my thoughts about this amp, this is not a review but just my feelings.
a few of you guys played this amp at the texas ampfest and loved it .
the first few days i had the amp i didnt really like it and i was selling it because i just wasnt used to the feel or voicing of it, but olaf helped me dial it in a little better and now im really loving it and i decided to keep it.
now that the honeymoon is over heres what i think of it.
the clean channel has lots of headroom and doesnt break up. its one of the best cleans ive played on a high gain amp. i really like this channel and its really nice with the mid cut turned on also. i like the clean on the herbert better than the vh4 i had.
ive been playing ch 2 and its very clear sounding with plenty of low end and has a nice amount of saturation with the gain anywhere between 12 to 2 oclock. this channel can go from low gain bluesy stuff to rock to 80s to metal. this is a very versital amp and theres plenty of tones left to be found. the +/- is a nice feature to change the gain and i will look for some nice classic rock tones in -/mode.
next is channel 3 and its more saturated and bigger sounding than ch 2. the gain on this amp is full sounding and has clairity. this channel would be awsome for leads but i also liked it for rhythm also. ive been ruuning the gain on this ch at noon and its perfect for metal.
theres the mid cut for a more modern tone and so far i really like ch2 and 3 in +/mode with the mid cut on and both knobs at noon.
this is my 2nd herbert, the first one i had was a earlier model and honestly it didnt sound as good to me for some reason and i hated it and sold it, but like everything else with me i gave it another chance and im glad i did. ive owned lots of amps and the diezels are very unique and theres no amps that sound like them, the gain is very thick sounding but still clear, i have had amps that had a very full tone in the lows just like the herbert but the gain was thinner sounding than the herbert. i also owned a vh4 last year but i didnt like it for the stuff i play and i also spent time on a einstein and i loved that amp. so i have tried other diezels.
ive owned vht,mesa,bogner,splawn,ENGL,framus,soldano,peavey,marshall,fender,line6, and a few other brands that i cant think of, the diezel is very solid and i put the quality right up there with soldano and vht.
heres a pic, these are not my current settings, ive made a bnch of changes.
