Laura(Valve Queen) sent me a KT-77's awhile back for my Herbert.
Didnt really take a shine to them and put the four Wing C 6L6's and two Wing C EL-34's back in.

Well she set me up with a total preamp retube.
It suddenly got tighter/bit more balls/top end came more alive.

Soooooo,I decided to try the 77's again.
Honeymoon phase or not,I'm sticking with them for awhile.
Big improvement since I gave up on them last time.

Channel #2 minus with the gain at 1 oclock really gets that 70's tone
with alot of bite. And a roll down on the volume cleans up with just enough hair.

Any high gain amp,in my opinion, can go over the top ,but it takes tone to impress me.
Even though I was more than happy how the Herbert sounded before, this just makes me smile all the more.

My ears are, well,my ears. I know a lot have said NO to the 77's,but in my opinion
I'm glad I gave them a 2nd chance.

Now,no big deal here, but anyone else find that they run hotter than other tubes?
(and YES,I have it bias'd correct,85 mA per pair ............ just kidding).

In the long run,who knows,I might go back the the 6L6/EL34's but for now,"tone nirvana"

Thanks Papa D & The Valve Queen

Im glad your still digging the Herb John!!!!

This makes me wish I would have spent more time on rolling some different tubes threw it!!!

Out of all my big dollar high gainers,Herbert gets a lot of attention.

Herbert's gotta be an expensive amp to re-glass. Hang in there.

LOL....I even sport a "Valve queen" Tee shirt.
I do have enough to get by for now.

Try and retube 5 100 watter heads.
Just make sure its not all at once.
