Just got a new Herbert thanks to a fellow member on here and its brand new but I had a problem since I fired it up. It has a volume drop during play sometimes but its not common for it to happen. Luckily I dont play out right now so no big deal, I adjust the volume when it does happen even though its not often. I tried replacing the power tubes already and had the problem happen again so I have ruled out that as the culprit... this dosent seem like a preamp tube problem and I dont have any preamp tubes around to try and go that route right now. Has anyone ever had this problem or know what might be happening? Any advice is helpful and I appreciate any feedback.

Thanks, Chad

I would check the preamp tubes & if it's not that either I'd take it to a tech, it could be not safe running your amp like that. It sounds to me like a bad/loose contact somewhere, but I'm not a tech so...

Even if I were to check the preamp tubes, it dosent happen very often... so if I were to be playing it while checking each stage, it presents an opportunity to damage my amp even more. I might have to hesitate to even try that route. I would say this has only happened 4 times in the 2 months that I have owned it. I have it under warranty and would hope that I can have it looked over just to make sure. Peter, could you have a look at it? Sadly, I am not going to play it anymore until the problem is fixed, very depressing!!!

I would like to, but the money is dried up right now. Could I bring it in when I come out to check out the Diezel shop Peter? Maybe we could troubleshoot it.

Turn the loop off & use those tubes to troubleshoot.

If thats alright to do without damage, I will surely try that... thanks for the good idea!!!

      That about sums it up... the shit we go through to satisfy our needs, I have a 4K amp but cant even get $12 for a preamp tube for now!!! Broke as a joke until next payday and have to try and sell some gear first, but owe bills as we all do still, so not even $12 for a single preamp tube as for now!!!

Is this the one you had unopened in the box that I almost bought? Or the one you had coming in after that? Regardless I'm sorry to hear that man... I literally can't sleep at night when my gear isn't functioning as it should... hope you get it straightened out...

Its the brand new one I had after that, which is the one that I purchased from Herbert81. I got it with a full warranty, authorized by Peter Diezel... so no worries if the damage is more than a preamp tube. I am going to be waiting until the 15th to get this problem squared away.
