Ok,

I retubed the powersection of the herbert because i had a weird static. This did not help so i retubed the preampsection.
I lost the static but within a view days i had problems with a volume drop. So i retubed the powersection yesterday but still have the volume drop.

What could this be?

Before ordering a new set powertubes i allready had 5 sed el34 tubes and 5 SED C 6550 tubes. So i tried them out first but the problem still occured.

Kind regards,

Robert

Are You sure the new preamp tubes are ok ?

Please clean the sockets with a bit cleaner spray
to get right contact to the tube pins.

It could be the preamp tubes, theire also new. What kind of contact spray? i have a bubble air duster(spraycan with air), is that ok?

I also remember that when changing the preamp tubes, the tubes didn't go in that easy in the sockets.

You may have a tube not in good or with a bent prong. Got to be careful with the chassis still in the shell as they can be a little tricky to get in.

I don't spray anything directly into the sockets. What I do is pull the old tube and spray the pins with electric cleaner then run it back in and pull it out. Then put the new one in.

It can be done, as I do mine in the shell, just got to have some good light and a good feel. look at which way the tube came out and get the other one sort of the same direction and do a little touchy feelie thing until it goes in. Wait till the tubes are cool though! But, it would be better taking it out of the shell. Just hook up a cab and power it up out of the shell and make sure it is working right before going back together with it.

The only volume problem I have with my Herbie is the fact that I can't hear shit after playing for a while

took the baby out off the shell and just finished, now im gonna look a view anime episodes and later in the night ill try the amp first, damn i hope its fine now. As soon as i dont have a volume drop ill put a pair off 6550 tubes back in the beast.

3 pairs off sed el34 isnt that bad but the previous combination off 2 pairs sed el34 and a pair of sed 6550 tubes is just killer. The tone and feel off the amp was perfect for me.

Iff it goes on this way ill know enough to become the dutch diezel tech to come to when needed ;) though everything till now has been tube related, just gotta be patient enough.

Where would we be without this forum

I havent played out for about a month and miss the Herb pushing air man, WoW.

Guys, thanks for the help

maybe i have done that Steve. I may have to send u a pic of it!!

Glad u got ur amp sqaured away man. I know Diezel Denial is a bad thing!!

Had to take a break. Been going for about 4 or 5 hours now on the Metallica binge. The bride is home too and she is re-hanging and straightening all the pictures  (me) :gethim: (her).

The Herbie is definitely the baddest ass amp on the planet......period, end of story. Started running a gate in front of it just so I can crank it and get a lot more stattaco and chunk without the feedback and bleed through. Almost gave me a stiffy!

Yeah, Pauly, send a picture of those ear muffs hammer

its still there, it took a longer time to get to the volume drop, tonight ill put the old preamp tubes in again and see what happens, thank god i didnt put the amp back in the tolex :D

I swapped v1 and v2 with my old preamp tubes and played for 1 hour and nothing happend. It should be fixed now. Ill give it another try tomorrow just to make shore before putting the amp back in the shell.
