Herbert w/ 4 tubes

Anyone ever use a Herbert w/ 4 tubes rather than 6? Is this possible? Just curious.... If so, which 2 would come out?
 
I ran my Herbie to finish a show after it dropped one pair because
i had to finish but it didnt sound right wasnt as tight and focused
 
I'm wondering if the herb would sound more like a VH4 than.
 
i've used Herbie with jsut 4 tubes for one gig, as right during the soundcheck one pair of the JJs failed.

sounded still almost the same, but it had a bit more highend/treble/presence, almost kind of a "fizzle", a bit "sharper" maybe? dont know really how to explain it...

i guess that was due to the slight ohm-mismatch.
