Last night I saw a band that was using diezel herbert and diezel cab. Seriously his tone was amazing.I talked with the gtrist and he said he loaded the herb with 6550s, WOW, ive got el34s in mine,it dont sound like that, IS 6550 and kt 88 the same tube? if not what is the difference. Also the diezel cab sounded killer, all the bands used the headliners diezel cab, 1st a marshall thru it, then an orange then the herbert. All sounded good, except herb, it cleaned house!

Not the same tube, but one is a drop in replacement for the other. The 6550 will dissipate about 7 more watts per tube, giving a little more clean headroom.

The KT88's should be biased around 100mA per pair. The 6550's around 120mA @ 70%. This is for 470V output.

Disclaimer: This is my bias from published specs. Others here will say to bias them cooler than what I quoted, running about 60%. Up to you though...

I was getting a vh4 used of Josh but the dude backed out on trading it in... so hes gonna hunt me one down. Its safe to say, i went full circle and right back to Diezel, they just have such a dynamic unique tone that no one touches! Right on Peter, you the man!!!!!!
