Hi guys , I am fairly new here and could do with some advice please
I am gassing for a Herbert and have seen one in the UK on ebay and the seller makes a reference in his listing saying.....
This amp does need a bit of warm up time, it doesnt process signal until about 1 minute after turning on.
I wanted to know if this is considered normal for a Diezel Herbert , I have other tube amps that take like 30 seconds or so but not a minute , I would think there will be some herbert owners here who can hopefully chime in
here is the listing
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Diezel-Herber ... _139wt_958

Something wrong! It's always better or suggested to let the tubes warm up before you turn the standby on but does not process signal till about 1 min? something def wrong. Keep away.

Thanks for the replys guys
I didnt think it would be normal but wanted to be sure as having never owned a Diezel before I thought it might just be something unique to those amps

well, wait for peter.
I know its best to wait about 30 seconds before flipping it on but no signal for 1 minute isnt normal as far as i know.

Good luck and enjoy when you get one!

Got email

Hi Peter , thanks very much for the info.
when I get it which will hopefully be in a couple of days if I then find there is any real problem other than what you suggested then I will send it straight over to you as shipping from me to you is only £35 ish so its not a problem
thanks for chiming in like this .it is very reassuring to find customer service of this level to say the least
I do not really know much about Diezel stuff to be honest prior to listening to some demos and I was not expecting to find help and advice to offered so easily , it is a really nice suprise
thanks

Thanks !

Please send the amp to Bad Steben. We will send it
back with UPS. In any case I will send you an estimate
about tubes if necessary and shipment costs.

Hi Peter
I picked up the Herbert today and when I got it home I immediately swapped out the preamp tubes one by one and then restarted the amp each time to see if the problem went away and when I got to the 4th tube yes ! Have a cigar... I turned the amp on and no more problens when warming up from standby so the problem is now definitely solved.
I then went through the powers tubes and found one of the powertubes glass envelope was seperated from the bakelite /plastic type base and would wiggle around just hanging on by the wires so all powertubes are now also replaced.

when I got the chaps house today to pick up the amp I realised he also had the matching Diezel cab as well OOOOH... its mine now or at least it will be when I go back for it

if it was not for your advice I might of missed out on the amp so thanks again

Did you check the tube fault fuse on the bad power tube ?

Hi , even though the base was loose the tube looked like it was still functioning but I did not check the fuse
I will take a look at the fuse later today , would I still be able to bias new tubes if the fuse was blown I ask cos I put replacement tubes in and they biased up properly

edit ... I have now checked the fault fuses and they are good
