Here is how to tell a German from American Diezel 4x12

Mainly its the back plate. I talked to Peter S. about this during my visit in Germany and he told me about how the internal baffling is tuned differently than the German ones. I looked inside both and saw the differences. They are slight but I noticed them. The main difference I can tell is that there is the back plates that actually have writing and the diezel logo's on the german ones which also have 6 screws and differ from the american ones whose back plates are blank and have 4 screws.

Top one is american made and bottom is German made. Hope this helps all those who wanted to know.

The fronts are really no different other than a couple mm difference in measurement on the grill.

They dont have the same speakers, but both are front loaded cabs. I would have to have the same speakers to do a fair comparison.

My diezel cab had a jack plate with the diezel logo and writing and the mono jack had a red nut on it and it had a hand written serial number. It also had batting on the back panel like a bogner. Here is the only pic I know I have. ..

To my guessing, that might have Diezel on the jackplate but with that 4 screw assembly my guess would be that its an american cab.

My 4x12 plate is similar to nwright's with the red nut, and Peter told me in an email that it was NOT an original Diezel cab

The bottom cab came straight from the factory where Peter S. makes the cabs and I can assure you that is what all made in Germany 4x12s look like.

Well, that's good to know. I had one like that for a while and it was an absolutely horrible cab. The back warped like crazy and wasn't a very tight seal as a result. Might have to consider getting a real German one to try out. Was really disappointed that Diezel would put out such a badly built cab when their amps are anything but.

Its weird, but the American 4x12 Diezel I have is an amazing Front Loaded cab. I cant really tell the difference between it and my Front loaded German made except for the different flavored speakers I have in each.

I have no complaints with mine, I have never had a German one to compare it to, but the quality is on par with any other cabs I have gotten my hands on mesa, marshall, orange.

The German made cabs are 1,300 + if you can find one. That is way expensive for most people.

I thought someone would have said, "One smells like beer & kraut". You guys are getting dull.

If I remember correctly, the ones that have red nut are not German made.

I didn't have any issues with mine, either. VERY solid sounding cab and the construction was top notch. The quality of the ply used was easily some of the best I've seen.

I ultimately sold them for EVH cabs, as they mate better with the EVH heads, but for a V30 loaded cab, the Diezels I had were great. I know they aren't German made, but I've never got a concrete answer as to what era US cab it is, or where it was made. I've been told they were Salwender cabs, but also told they were made by Marvics Musical Enclosures...At this point, I don't know if anyone really knows.
