Did you ever get the issue with the Randall RT 2/50 worked out?

No, not yet. Bruce suggested a couple techs in the area, but I can't be without my RT2/50 right now since I have gigs I need to play with it. The EL34 side works great, so I'm not really that concerned. The plan is to get it fixed when I have a lull in gigs coming up here in Nov/Dec time frame. Hopefully a little over a month is enough time for them to fix it and get it back to me.

I imagine it will be a short turnaround. The tech that worked on mine had never seen one before (apparently they almost never break) but it only took him a couple hours to diagnose the problem and fix it.

I did the same as you when mine lost channel A - I just switched all my M4 modules over to channel B until I had some spare time to get it fixed.

The thing is, I use BMAN, VX, SL, SLX, so I really don't even need channel 1 as all of those work with EL34s primarily (well, BMAN maybe not, but it sounds great with EL34s). I was using VX with channel 1 just for a more rounded flavor, or I should say, just to use channel 1.

I have a D/D and COD on the A side (6L6) and a VX and a SL2X on the B side, with 6550s.

But to be honest they all sound just fine (if a little different) on either side. Kinda makes me think I should rig both sides the same and just keep one channel as a spare. :D

That's actually a really good idea. The only reason I really want to get it fixed is that I was running EL34s and 6L6s before and I just got a really good set of 6550s to try out. Of course, when they were delivered, the amp was no longer working on channel 1. I just wanted to do the EL34/6550 comparison to see which floats my boat more. I'm sure the difference will be very small.

It's too bad that we can't put one channel on standby while using the other. That would keep the power tubes on the unused channel even fresher. Wonder if you could just pull the tubes?

Not sure. I don't see why not though. This would be a question for Bruce since he designed it.

At the tech's now. We'll see what he says it is. I relayed the information about how yours shorted out, so we'll see if it's the same thing. Looking forward to trying out some 6550s!

You won't believe this. The switch for letting it run channel switching broke and for some reason defualted to not allowing channel switching in my set up. New switch, works fine. D'OH!!!

Nice . . . I'll tuck away that tip in my arsenal. Glad it was something simple - thanks for updating!

Thankfully it was something cheap!
