I need a little help locating the bias pot. I opened it up and the only adjustable pot I saw was one that was in a red casing. What are you guys biasing it at?

paul, got your message im in a session... ill call you later.

i reccomend winged c el34's @ 40 mv

if you want a faster and more excited sound 50mv , but dont expect much life LOL but good lord it sounds beastly...you can utilize the low / high power (bias) switch more to preserve tube life and etc

yea, the bias range on the stock ccv is fairly narrow. Mark put a bias mod in my ccv which allows me to run any power tube i'd like and lets me adjust the bias from the back of the amp without opening the amp up. . .

I tried 600 dollars of different power tubes, kt88, 6550, kt77 , 6l6 , kt66, different brands of each, including other el34's only to come back to the winged C EL34 that is THE tube for that amp...PLUS they can handle the high plate voltage....

I have no idea... I have no need to open the amp yet. Good thing I know the amp sounds best with Winged C's because I really don't feel like tinkering. I am curious how a quad of RFT EL34's would sound...

Dave...

Give the Bias a Check... Mine was kinda High when I got it... I like 44ma.

Best,

I am sticking with Winged C SED EL34 since I love them. I checked my bias and it is at 40 mv. I just need to know the location of the bias pot?????
I hate amps that dont have an external bias. Its such a pain in the ass having to open it up. If anyone knows or can post a picture of it please do so.

When I opened it up I just saw one trim pot that is red on the casing of the sides, but I dont think its for the bias so I dont want to mess with it.

paul pm or send me a picture ...that sounds like the bias pot... if your @ 40mv your pretty good though man...

I need to know for when I have to change tubes. From what I have seen it looks like there is only 1 trim pot inside the ccv. I just want to be sure the one I saw is for the bias and not somthing else. For example my jcm800 has 2 trim pots. 1 for bias and I think the other has somthing to do with voicing?

Has anyone biased thier ccv?

Ive biased mine 30 times... It's 1 pot for all the tubes...pretty sure thats the only pot inside the amp, pic please....

Here is the deal, There is only 1 trim pot in the ccv that is the bias pot.. It is near the power section. Mine is a white plastic screwhead incased in a red housing on its sides. I would assume they all look the same.

That's correct... Sometimes the wiring harness is over it.
