Just repaired a Custom 50 from 1976 - filters, tubes, some wiring and pots . . . . used by a bassman ( )

Amazing, awesome. Those monsters simply

I want one :D

Do you want me to take some? No prob, I can do that after I've taxied my daughter and feeded the kids a bit later.

Any specific things you are interested in?

Best site in the web about them: http://www.mhuss.com

Looks like this - the one in the lab has new electrolytics and new screen grids - and an updated bias circuitry.

I've used metal film for the bleeders and the bias - and 5Watt ceramics for the screen grids. Caps are JJs.

Just interested in any pics I can get my hands on at this point. Bored at work, dreaming about amps : )

Man, that "brilliant" channel sounds brilliant indeed.

Even with my wife's bass. Wow. That thing rocks.

There are quite a few bassists who use Hiwatts... John Wetton comes to mind IIRC.

btw.. don't cringe.. The purple plexi sounds great on bass too.
I have a 1x15 GK cab that sounds really nice with it. A really nice warm growly sound with the Burns bass, and a nice dark sound with the tele too!

Wow.....just wow!

Are the new Hiwatts built like this as well?

Hi Scott - some of them are. Its a bit confusing with Hiwatt.CO.UK, Hiwatt.WTF and Hiwatt.COM. But I do know that there are still models with Partridge trannies and built like this.

Of course that amp roars :) Need to pick up a hotplate though cause I can't crank it much around here!

I've been meaning to ask.. when pulling tubes.. should I change the HT fuse from 1A to 0.5A?
