Let's go Herbert first:

My question is which loop goes after which.

I understand all the sends are the same, with exception that switchable send is switchable, the other 2 are on all the time.

Parallel return is on all the time & it's parallel, so it's pretty clear. Well, almost clear. My way of understanding is if you set the volume to 100% it will be equal to a second serial return with exception that it won't short the preamp's signal. ?? So I guess I could run a second preamp this way & mix it with Herbert's preamp & have one signal out from Herbert's power amp?

Now serial return & switchable return. Do they mix/chain with one another or one overwrites the other? If it's a chain then which one is first & which is second?

The first in chain is the switchable loop. This loop
is serial.

The return of the switchable loop leads to the
send of the serial and parallel loop.

The serial and parallel loop are "parallel" means
"side by side".

So You have a few options of wiring. To switch
the parallel loop just use the switchable loop
send and the parallel return for example.

Thank You, that's very helpful. I finally fully understand.

If you could explain the VH4 the same way too, that would seal the deal.

Yeah, that would be awesome (I was just about open a thread with exactly that question and then I saw this...)!

So it's ok to use both the serial loop and the switchable loop at the same time right?

Same on the VH4 but only with the both master loops.
The send 2 is switched to ground so You don´t
can use it for the serial loop.

What do you want to plug where, maybe I can help . . .

I have a chorus in the insert-loop of ch1 and add (parallel) a delay. Since both a switchable I can have delay on all channels if needed (need that to cover my imperfections, lead the most) and some chorus for cleans, which for 70s/80s style is nice.

I needed to understand it all in theory. Peter explained it all too well, I'm content.

What interests me now is how would it sound to have VH4's send into Herbert's parrallel return. I guess I'll find out soon. :D

I've always liked that idea of plexis where you can mix the 2 preamps. I guess this is gonna be my chance to do it with Diezels.
