Holdsworth and the SynthAxe

When Allan changed over to the SyntheAxe, I stopped listening to his music for a couple of years. I just did not dig the sound. At all.
I adored his guitar tones. But with a SyntheAxe, it just sounded like a keyboard player; cold an’ sterile. Obviously, it was still his music, but the organic element, to my ears, was gone.

Huge Holdsworth fan, he was one of a kind. It took me a while to appreciate his synth work. I will never forget when I met him in Seattle, he is a legend and deserves to be placed amongst guitar royalty. I will watch the video later, looks like it'll be a good one. (y)

he definitely had sounds he was chasing and was relentless, willing to experiment with new technologies and push existing technologies to extremes.

8 x modulated delays coordinated with various time, modulation, panning, levels, feedback, etc. how did he even think of this?

Allan had a unique mind, those solo pieces he does like Above and Below with the volume swells and delay are out of this world.
