How brutal can the Einstein be?

I'm thinking of getting a 2nd amp head for moving around situations & the little size of this head is appealing, however I need it to cover pretty tight technical progressive metal, not the loose chuga-chuga stuff.

So how tight can it get?
Should I even think of it or just get another tried & true Herbert?

My experience with both amps is pretty small ..... but it seemed the Herbert was a bit looser and a bit more compressed. I hope some one who knows the amps better than me can set you strait.

If you already have a Herbert and desire a smaller head for moving around, the Einstein gets mean enough. I cannot see needing more distortion then it provides.

If you need more of a certain type of feel, just add a foot toy to it. The audience will not be able to tell the difference.

If tight is your desire, the VH4 felt tighter then the Herbert and the Einstein. Also use a front-loaded cab. They are very direct feeling compared to the rear-loaded cabs.

as brutal as all the other diezels, just MY OPINION.

i make stoners rock-metal with it and it sounds sooo mean.

dont worry , even the eini smashes every recto , engl , bogner etc.

On my 100W Einstein, I found Ch1 Mode 3 more brutal than Ch2.
Personally, I didn't like Ch2 that much but it's very thick sounding if you like that.

Little Einy can easily bring it...it is a very underrated amp IMO. It can do it all and do so very well. It is more open and organic then the Herbert but has plenty of gain, saturation, tightness and the cleans are stunning. PM me or call me if you have further questions and I will do my best to answer all of them.

I agree with Terry, to me it's a bit unfair the Einny is looked as the underdog. I don't know if it was a bad marketing thing or what, but people see the Einstein as what Schimdt actually is, and it's not true. The Einny can do it all same with the VH4 and the Herbie.

now, I don't know if it was because I wasn't playing at gig volumes but I do like the cleans on my VH4 a lot more than the einstein's. But I'd swap the VH4 channel 4 for the Einstein's channel 2 any day! :D

I wish I had a few clips that I could post up here of some work that I recently am completing for a movie company.

It's tight, brutal and very, very clear. Tons of gain and an amazing clean and plexi mode in between! I love Channel 2 for soloing. Channel 1 mode 3 is amazing as well!
For me, I love the Einstein because it can go from my weekly Gig to gig and not break my back. The smaller headsize is a welcome addition as well. I actually finally got a road case for mine to keep it safe.

I was under the same impression too... well, maybe it's cause it comes in a combo format also?

see, that's what I say, most people have that impression of the Einstein, and seriously man, after owning it for a year and a half, it's not true.

it gets just as heavy as the VH4 for example, the dif. is the Einstein is a bit smoother. It's hard to explain, because smoother doesn't mean it's less heavy. The same concept applies to the VH4, which is heavy as fuck but it's not saturated, which is why a lot of people play it and feel something is missing (all those years of saturated amps in metal have people's ears badly accustomed).

That's why Peter is such a genious.... he can make the amps sound heavy but in different ways.

My experience exactly. I've owned all of the at least twice :D
