1 .How can I install blue LED lights in my VH4?
2. How can I change the existing lights to blue?

How can I install some blue LED lights somewhere near the tubes, so they go off when the amp is on standby & turn on when the amp is on?

How can I change the existing lights to blue?

The black housings can be cut within the LED
from the top of the board.

Resolder the two pads with a bit solderwire. Please
note that there is a "+" mark on the board.

The long wire on the LED is "+".

Finally cut the wires on the LED, solder it
to the board and bend it through the hole
in the frontplate.

Pardon me for my dumminess, but can someone explain this to me better? Maybe I wasn't clear about what I was trying to do?

That's the answer to part 2 of your question.

I assume for part 1 you mean you want to install extra lights? I think that may be a fairly tricky bit of work, you are either going to have to mount an extra PCB to carry the LCD's and tap the power supply somewhere, or you are going to have to run them on cables, which is a bit dodgey in it's own right as you can't afford them to get anywhere near the tubes or you melt the casings.

Unless you are pretty good at this sort of thing I'd ask an amp tech to do it.

Changing the existing ones will be pretty easy if you can hold a soldering iron. I think I might have a crack at it when my VH4 turns up :)

The problem is that the buttons on the VH4 are made of some orange plastic. Otherwise switching the LEDs is a pretty simple task.

As for the 1st question - I'll be taking it to an amp tech to do this. I just want to know the parts that I need & also a few tips to the tech of how & where.

SORRY ......... I was completely out of order !!!!!!

It´s a VH4 not a Herbert.

The bulbs inside the switches are not LED´s.
Maybe there is a trick to get the covers of the
switches to get into blue translucent colour.

Peter,

Is there a place I can get the whole switch in a different color?

Thank You!

The switch is from RAFI/Germany.

Please search for a local dealer.

They have green and orange I remember.

Replace the original with a switch + LED. You need to drill a 5mm hole then 4 times though. Thats what I would do if I had a VH4. Although the red lights looked awesome with that white headshell VH4 shown in Frankfurt.
So spacey - like battlestar galactica :D

You know, man, I really like that idea. I'll give it a thought. The VH4 seems to be a keeper anyway.
