im deciding what modules to get with a mod 50 and was thinking an eg5 with either a cod or sl, but i need a module that can do cleans, like think hendrix/little wing clean for as clean as ill need to get. So how clean do these modules get?

For a good while, I was using my COD for my clean module. It's a great clean sound you can "dig in to" to give it a little edge, but very controllable. With the COD and EG5 paired together, you can get a really great range of gain. You also can get probably one of my favorite lead tones from any modules I've heard to date with the COD B channel.

The COD is not really intended to be a Fender clean type module. The SL can be run clean if you put a 5751 in V1. Not a sparkly clean though.

I would recommend getting a VX. With a 5751 in V1 Channel A does great cleans. Channel B can go from mid gain breakup to a pretty good amount of saturation. I love it for the Hendrix-type stuff.

I must have a screwed up room, rig, set of ears or something.

My SL can get VERY clean.

My COD doesn't get very clean.

The SL can get clean, but for me, because the inherent EQ has that marshally midrange going on, it doesn't sparkle like the TD or BMAN.

I think it's a little bit honky as a clean module...

+2. The BMan gets quite clean on Ch A and would sound great for the Hendrix/Little Wing-type clean tones. I love the VX Ch A, but it is more Voxy chime than Fender sparkle.

So it sounds like the cod can clean up well? i think i really want to go with this one after hearing muudrock's eric johnson tone from it :worship: as im also an eric johnson fan boy. Im thinking cod with the eg5 could be a killer combo

With a 5751 in V1 of the COD, it can get clean...but not Twin sparkly clean though.

I am starting to believe the COD is best for a mid-gain sound and not do the clean deal. I feel this way ESPECIALLY w/ using a 5751 in V1 of the VX and the BMAN (which is modded btw). I don't feel the need to have a "semi-clean" COD sound anymore!
