I had just check the Japanese Guitar Shop "ikebe", and I found out that most of Diezel amps are much cheaper than US.

http://www.ikebe-gakki.com/shopping_20.php?state=1&cate=3&s_cate=1&brand=10191

Diezel VH4 =$424,000 yen = $3428USD
Diezel Herbert = $398,000 yen = $3218USD
Diezel Einstein 100w = $316,000 yen = $2555USD

The VH4 and Herbert are really cheap in Japan to compare with USA ( $4200USD price).....why??

You think thats cheap? I paid about €2.200,00 Euros in the german "Musicstore" shop. This is without 21% V.A.T but still, a lot cheaper than you guys pay at U.S.A . You do the math ;)

A VH4S including the VAT would cost 3200 in Europe.
A Herbert 3000 and a VH4 2900. So Japan considering the transportation costs and the VAT is relatively cheap compared to the US.
The point is how many products has the Japanese distributor ordered. The freight in costs are divided on the total number of products always.

how´d u get it that cheap...??!?!?!? 2200 Euros? From the "Musicstore"? The one in Cologne?

In Japan all guitar stuff is cheaper. They also have very nice MIJ guitars at great prices. Amps are nonsense though, as they usually are 100V versions. Unless it'e easy to convert to 240V though ...

The Dollar is cheaper than the Euro and the Yen is cheaper than
the Dollar. The distribution prices are the same to US and Japan.

I was referring to the VH4 ... not the VH4s .
The €2200 is without 21% V.A.T (portuguese %).

Also €2.200,00 is $2.995,52 U.S Dollars on the 06.07.2007 . I bought it in 2006.

Hmm, when I studied they said price is a function of demand and supply ... I think distributors make a lot of money (distributors of american boutique in Europe, distributors of European boutique in US).

They have the huge investment risk of buying a container full of stuff and having to sell it piece by piece but the shipping costs are very low this way and.

They can add a significant margin _not because of the _actual shipping cost, but because of the high cost for individual amp shipping, which makes it uneconomical for a private person to ship an amp.

Plus you have the transformers that cannot easily be switched between different voltages as additional protection for their business (what about touring professionals by the way?).

The alternative for an amp manufacturer is to do his own distribution (like Splawn and Peters amps for example), but if you cannot test those amps, you will always rather buy one that you can try in your region than have one shipped overseas for 200$ and not being able to try it out ...

I've sold a number amps to people in Italy and Spain, so the word "always" may not apply here. :)

Well, OK, not ALWAYS ...

But let's say if you have that investment risk (opportunity) to be buying an amp, it would be good to be able to test one before. Let's say my girl friend rather didn't know if I'd order an amp from the US that I only know from some mp3s.

Which doesn't mean that there's no likelihood of me becoming weak and still ordering one of those famous Splawns or Peters :D

Let's say if there would have been Peters amps around for testing within let's say 400Km range, who knows, I might be posting in the Peters, not the Diezel forum ;)
