Splitting the signal between live amp which I want to hear and a DI which i plan to reamp later. Going through a presonus firepod into Reaper. Been researching for hours and cannot find an answer for the life of me. I can mute them on playback but live? I don't want to hear the dry track along with the mic'ed amp I am using for reference when I am riffing away. Very frustrating and I cannot find a way to mute/turn off any type of send or play back. Anyone have an idea??

Also, if anyone has a firepod, I am reading something about direct monitoring NOT being a feature that you can disable? There is no software (only drivers) that comes with this thing. If that is the case, kind of a $hitty tool/design by presonus for any studio don't you think? I might have to get a cheapo mixer and stick that in between so I can cut the DI..

You have a screenshot you can throw up? I messed with Reaper awhile back and there's a tool on the track that doesn't look like a mute button but it is...

I'll try to get a pic up tonight.. doing some more reading, i think the issue i am having is i need to figure out how to disable the presonus firepod direct monitoring so that only Reaper is doing it. If I add a track in Reaper, right away i monitor the sound of the mic or DI hooked up to it in Reaper. I need to figure out a way to only hear the track if i choose to monitor it in Reaper. So that's the million dollar question, how do i disable the presonus hardware monitoring :-/

Isn't there a blend knob on the Firepod to go between direct monitoring and playback monitoring? I think it's the knob labeled "Mix" next to the headphones and Mains knob.

Right you are! Found the knob and it is counter intuitive as you go clock wise, it cuts out the presonus monitoring and i can then enable monitoring in Reaper. much appreciated!

In Reaper usually tracks armed for recording you can hear. Make sure the big red circle is not lit on a track meaning it is armed for recording.

Also, on the tracks there is a little green triangle/speaker. Says IN next to it. Make sure you click that until it is not green and it says monitoring off in a little pop-up tool tip.

You also need to disable the sound of your interface. I don't have a Firepod, but I have a Presonus 22VSL. I just open the Presonus software and mute the inputs. If you don't do this you will still hear the sound even if monitoring is off in Reaper.

The Firepod was different in that there was zero software interface that came with the unit.. I searched high and low for that. It is pretty much load the drivers and have it ready to go. It was this mix knob on the hardware itself that did the trick. Everything else is as you described and I no longer have two signals on top of each other when i monitor in Reaper. I do however notice that the sound/tone of my mic'ed signal sounds better when i listen just through Presonus and not Reaper. I wonder if that is latency or what is lost between the mic pre and the DAW.
