Hi all,

I have a Herbert and would like to know how you would wire up for the following sounds (best would be to use midi, so no pedal-dancing is needed):

- Channel1: with chorus and reverb, deciminator NOT used
- Channel2: only isp deciminator in the loop
- Channel3: deciminator + reverb

Dont have bought anything for chorus or reverb yet, wanted to ask you guys before.
Always had a digital modeling amp before, so these different combinations were no problem, but I am totally new to the different kinds of loop and how to use them as beeing switchable and no tone-suckers ;-)

prob something like a G System would be your best bet. Has all the FX, Loops & MIDI all in one. Or you can do something like a G Major (or similar) and the Diezel Columbus (or some kind of good MIDI controller) will do what you are looking for , for alot less than a G System.

Hook up the Decimator in the serial loop.... but you'll have to tap-dance for the reverb?

All you need is the channel insert of the Vh4 :D
..i'm joking..a good solution I think is the g-major 2 in the herbert serial loop + a midi pedalboard= less money,less trouble,good sound. ;)
If you want something better sounding use the Eventide eclipse. :)

Hey, thanks for the answers =)

The Eventide Eclipse is definitly out of my price range,
but the g-major 2 should be the way to go.
As midi-switcher I use a Tech21 Midi Moose.

Still have my POD XT Live, also a possibility as long as I dont have something else?
I just dont want to kill the superb tone of Herbert, but a nice warm clean sound with
chorus and delay f.e. would be cool ^^

i use the GMajor & it doesnt disrupt the Herberts tone whatsoever. Prob can get a used one pretty cheap.

Cool ^^

I think I will search a little bit to get a used gmajor, because I just want to add some nice effects ;-)

Are there usable presets for the gmajor or do you have to spend a lot of time to get into it?

some of the presets are useable...but if you need to edit or create your own its not too bad. Pretty user friendly.

I had a G Major II that I used with my VH4 in the serial loop. It was fairly transparent, but I felt there was a very slight tone suck to it. I ended up selling it and just went with pedals in the channel inserts. With my Herbert it was fine since I used it in the switchable loop.

Hey,

I have another question. I will own a G-System in a short time (bought a used one at ebay).

I also have a ISP Deciminator (the pedal, NOT the rack-vesion).

I want to use one preset with the pedal activated in the loop, but for this I dont need the effects of the G-System. For another preset I dont wont to use the deciminator in the loop (because it's a clean preset) but at this time some effects of the G-System. How would you wire up for this?

Thanks :)

I'm using a G-Major II in the switchable loop of my Herbert with a FCB1010 midi controller and it sounds great. No issues with tone suck, IMO. It's a solid unit for the price. Can't speak for the original G-Major, but the preset on the II are a little weak, though it's pretty easy to tweak quickly and get a good sound. I doubt I've spent more than 15 minutes setting up half a dozen patches for different sounds and programming the midi switching. I'm really happy with the combination.

Thanks for the answer, but my question was aiming at something else ;)

Where do I have to put the isp deciminator pedal, if I want to have it in the signal chain in one preset and not used in another, as described in the post above:
