How does Pau Ferro feel in comparison to Rosewood and Maple?

I'm trying to decide which fretboard to go with on my next Suhr (Modern) and I've never tried Pau Ferro. I love the Maple board on my S4 and I've owned a few Rosewood guitars which I like but prefer the feel of Maple.

I have a brazilian Di Giorgio acoustic guitar with pau ferro back and sides
I can't tell if the fretboard is brazilian rosewood or pau ferro, cause it's a very dark one, but I think it's pau ferro, cause that's what Di Giorgio uses the most on the cheaper nylon models
but I think I never had a solid guitar with pau ferro board
some brazilian luthiers say there's no audible difference in tone compared to rosewood fretboard, others say it's more dry sounding
it definitely feels more like rosewood than like maple

Hey,
My Suhrs all have different boards on them. I have maple, Indian Rosewood and 2 with Pau Ferro. Tone wise there is a difference between them, as far as feel I can only tell a difference between the maple and all the rest. The Maple has more of a glide type of feel to it when you are playing. I dont like one better than the other, they are all great and imo why have guitars that are all the same.

Since you already have maple I would go with either the Indian Rosewood or the Pau Ferro. They both sound killer. I love the Basswood back with a Maple top and a maple neck and either the Pau Ferro or Indian Rosewood board. Great tone for sure. Or the Mahogany neck with a Pau Ferro board is also killer.

I have an older Charvel San Dimas Reissue with a Pau Ferro board (Koa body) and it sounds great! Best sounding guitar I've ever owned.

:)

I have a Patrick Eggle which has a Mahogany neck and Rosewood fretboard and prefer the stiffness of a Maple neck but I also love that gliding feeling of a Maple board but like you say it seems a shame to have 2 guitars with the same neck, so maybe I'll just go Pau Ferro.

Mine plays like glass, really smooth on the bends, better than any other guitar I've played. am sure its more the SS frets though. I have an Ibanez with a rosewood board and its always staining my fingers.
