Looking at XTC and dig them man. Just a certain tone. I would like more gain from blue channel and toucn more upper mids so was wondering how a TS08 or TS9 wold work with the blue channel? Not for blasting it but for a bit more gain and mids?

I'd suggest trying out the 20th Anniversary XTC. It's voiced with more prominent upper mids than the 101B and has more gain on tap. IME all you'll get with an OD pedal in front of the amp is a more compressed tone with a little more gain.

Huge price difference though used. 20th won't come down to a used xtc 101B for a long time

He same OD pedal. Could u do a short clip with it off and then pedal off possibly?

I've used a tube screamer, and a tri-od pedal from BYOC that I built - both worked well. You get the best results by doing the typical 'crank the volume - lower the gain' on the pedal though.

i have a fulltone OCD that sounds wonderful on the blue channel

Get a Classic and mod it. Both my blue and red channels have about 40-50% more gain than a stocker with more prominent upper mids. No more compression than a stocker. Lots of headroom!

I totally agree. Keeley TS808, Keeley Boss SD-1, Barber Direct Drive, all of these have worked great to push blue channel. Also try backing off the amp's gain on red channel, and tighten it up/push it with the overdrive. Works great and gets the XTC into heavier territory than the red channel can on its own, with tighter bass/gain.
