You can feel the heat off my 6xKT88 loaded herbert from like 2-3 feet away. This normal :scared: It's like a damn space heater

Herbert gets HOT!! It even says in the manual that you shouldn't put anything on top of Herbert, because the top will get hot and that's "normal." I agree, it projects some serious heat! I have been using a pretty decent size fan on the back and that has helped a lot. It would have to turn it off for recording, but I don't do too much receording right now, so it's fine.

I guess all that power and all those tubes produce some serious TONE and some serious HEAT

It's a chilly rainy day today and I was cold, so I started playing in front of the herbert man and I swear I was warm and toasty within minutes. Amazing :D

Bias it to 40 mA each pair, it should help a bit.
No worries about heat in tube amps.

I once had a prof at the uni who said that chicks have to be so hot that it makes ssstttttt when spitting on them.
Well, nowadays I think tube amps should be that hot :D

No way, it's KT88s so I prefer to run them at 50ma each, or 100ma a pair. I can take the heat   for the sake of the tone

before i had my Herbert, i used to put my beer on top of the amp during the gig. now i cant do that anymore, because the beer starts to cook.

you shouldnt be putting a beer on top your heads anyways. Thats what the bass players rig is for. LOL

and my Herbert gets hot enuff to make the lovely ladies sweat more than they alreay are..and make a fried egg sandwich!

Herbie = Expensive beer mat.......

With 4-6550's and 2-34's in mine, I don't notice it getting any hotter than normal.

Maybe Peter should think about a small fan in the Herbie like the Elmwood and Mesa's if they are getting that hot.
