I love the Egnater Modular stuff.

It really excels at classic and newer classic rock type music for me.

However, I have been using Randall and modded Randall stuff for my Higher gain stuff.

The EG5 is a great module and a step in the right direction for sure, but I really wish that Egnater would come out with at least one or two modules geared towards the modern metal head!

For all you guys who havent tried the Randall stuff, I would recommend you try these.

KH3
Grail
Mr. Scary
Brahma
Ultra XL
SL+
These modules actually sound pretty damn good stock.
Some sound awesome with a few tweeks.
Couldnt Egnater Start with these modules and do their own twist on em?
I for one, would love to have dual channel versions of these modules?

Jeff, are you listening?

cheers

all of these started as our modules. They were tweaked for the artist. More high end or type of low end. Slight part changes and thats it. So ya we can make ours sound like these but why we don't think having 23 models of gain really is a direction we want to go in. That being said I am working on and have been working on make things in our line a bit more modern! Started with EG 5 then SL2x and now the mystery module!

would it be possible to do a module that had ulta xl flavor in one channel, and ultra flavor in another channel.

I think that would complement the current egnater lineup nicely and add modern sounds to the line.

If not, could you make one for me?

Thanks!

I will take a look. Not sure what they used as the starting point. I will look after the holiday.

Jeff, JKD has a UXL dual channel module (based on the UltraXL) that Bruce custom made for McTallica (Tony) a few years ago. This module I think would be the basis for Fuzzy's request except I don't think it has different voicing between A & B. I've been meaning to follow up with you to see about having another one made, if possible. In addition to the mystery module, a UXL would also satisfy another high-gain need because the voicing is quite different. And yeah, you sure don't need 10-15 high gain mods.... a few really good ones will suffice.

Fuzzy, I use a few Randall mods for my high-gain: KH2 (boosted), Brahma (boosted), Friedman-modded Ultralead, Freidman modded Recto. I also have a Pete Modded 1086 coming in the mail that I am excited about. Also been wanting to try a bunch of the Salvation mods. I really prefer the dual channel format though.

I have an RM50 but am waiting on the E2 so that I can add that to the mix. I need to figure out if I can use the 4CM with that combination though. I am fighting hard not to pick up a Rebel 30 or Renegade this weekend too though. If I see one pop up on the boards for the right price, I have a feeling that I will pounce.

Ya we have done it and I have the schematic for it. You are right you can't do the two versions though.

I have to admit that I have gone crazy with this module thing. Yes it has killed my amp gas, but I know have serious module gas.

Here is what I have from the Egnater camp.
Dual twin, Bman, Vx,SL, SL2, Eg3/4, EG5, Erect
I have tried the MHG and SL2x, and am trying to track down a used MHG!

Stock Randall.
Brown, Treadplate, Recto, SL+, Brahma, Mr. Scary, Grail, XTC, KH3, 1086

Modded Stuff.
Modded Ultra XL by Dustin Latham

Salvation Mods- Custom3, Xtacy, Benzin, Salvado Deluxe.

Briefly had a Friedman Hairy Brown Eye.

I really like the stock egnater stuff alot. Just been listening to a lot of newer metal like Trivium, Atreyu, Chevelle, Saliva, and the like. The randall stuff gets me closer to those tones.

Fuzzy, the custom3 and Benzin REALLY have my attention! How do you like them? Are they plenty heavy without a boost? I've got 2 modules right now awaiting my decision on which Salvation mods they will be getting.

I'm also wanting the Angel, Hellraiser, Pit Viper, Mamba, Stonerverb and the XTC :scared:

BTW - the new form of GAS is M.A.S. Arguably it's much more affordable than G.A.S.

All the salvation modules have plenty of gain, no boost needed. But as you know a boost will make the module or amp sound different.

Yeah, the modules are really addicting.

I am in the process of trying everything I can, then plan on selling off most of the stuff, and keep what fits me best.!

Check out some of the clips I have up on http://www.jadedfaithmods.com as well. They are very raw, just gigging rig and a miked speaker with a 57. The way you should hear a sample.

If you have a Randall module and want the Ultra and XL in the same single module drop me a line and I can help you out.
Rob

You do realize this is a lie we tell ourselves to allow the M.A.S.

I 've collected a few dozen modded randalls thinking I would eventually keep a handful and sell the rest off...turns out I just enjoy Module War every night!

I own a few Salvation:

Stonerverb: I always wanted an Orange module and this one delivers, pop hard rock to Slipknot, I love it. Sounds extra killer in my rm20 head, that really gives it a great compressed tone for leads. Through 6L6s it is a bit drier and more articulate, harder for my slop style leads. I put a tight switch on it which I really enjoy having the variance.

Custom 3: this one was one of my favorites for awhile...sounds dead on Megadeth SOD! Cons: sounds dead on Megadeth SOD, lol ... that sound is now almost 20 years old, not as much saturation as the modern tones I like- but godamn is it great for Dave Marty fans

1666: I wasn't sure if this was a keeper until I plugged in my EpiGoth 7 string tuned to drop Aflat: OMG this thing is so angry and totally inspiring on both mid switches (unlike the stock that sux on the mid cut). This is a winner for low tuner crowd

Benzin: This is the opposite of the 1666, I do not like this on my EpiGoth 7 low tunings, but on my Gibson LP tuned to drop Dflat and above it is sweet. I need more time with this one to determine the degree of love; it is a smoother modern hard rock tone with plenty of girth and cut.

Angel: My newest piece, so I can't tell if it's an illusion, but I love it! (The newest ones are always strongest in the heart, so time will tell)....right now, I can sort of get close to the sinister edge of the 1666 and then dial it up to get some more mid roar.....seems to sound good on any guitar, this one is a thing of beauty.

I don't know if this helps, but there it is

That helps bigtime, thanks CrankyRay. I'm going to start with Angel, Stonerverb and Hellraiser.

You might be closer to acheiving those tones than you realize. I have several cabs, but its the Marshall 1960A with Greenbacks that I keep going back to to hear that razor edge and chunky bottom end, the 5150 and Randall seem muddy in comparison. Next I would consider what pick-ups you're running. EMG 81 or SD Blackouts? I want to plug into a Mills Acoustic 4X12 next to hear what sound difference that makes. I have a JF Modded 1086 and a Gigamod Ultra XL, they are both agressive modules, but very different, when I play, each inspires me differently. For me, thats what its all about.

I might own it now. :D

It's the same on both channels. It's tighter then the EG5 and I guess you could say it's sort of got some 5150 and Mesa-ish characteristics. I need a seven string lol.

english greenbacks
v30
g12-65
h30
and a kerry wright cab with 4 g12k100s
and a mills afterburner with g12k100 and v30 x pattern.
