How many of you have old cassette recordings of yourself?

I have a box of old cassette recordings of me by myself, with a band during practice and even a demo tape from 85-92. They still play! I want to catalog and transfer them onto my computer.
What have you guys used? A boombox headphone out into a audio interface?

I used to mix down from my Tascsm 8 track, into my combo stereo tape deck, so I could play all my kewl songs for my friends.

Old drum machine takes played live, instead of programing them. Terrible zoom effect units straight in. Used the same effect units for vocals too. 🤮

Wish I still had all of them. They actually were stolen out of my car in the late 90s, guess they lucked out.🤣🤣🤣

Mine are horrible. Recorded on “jam box” mic. Just fucking horrible. Hearing people talking and farting laughing moving shit around. Painful to listen to
Lol, mine too. I did these recordings with a drum machine, bass, and guitar, and no vocals. Just horrible songs.

I had one that I added a fake trumpet sound to with my keyboard and one of my friends heard it and said "that sound like someone squeezing a chimps balls".

I've got one from the summer of 1988. A Rockman into a Fostex 4 track, drum kit mic'd with a single Shure 58, with the drummer and I doing "vocals", which consisted of swearing, horrendous sexual innuendos, and burping. Imagine eating Boston's Third Stage album then sharting it out via projectile diarrhea.

It’s funny as hell. Nothing changes over 40 plus years ago and it’s still funny. The wives roll their eyes as we laugh uncontrollably. If it involves 14 year old behaviors, especially farting and adding words that involve sexual shit like “2Live crew’s as nasty as they wanna be” then maybe it’s not so bad. Hell I was doing this before 2 live crew. That dude Luther apparently made 100 million off his 14 year old behaviors. Talk about an album that changed my world. Remember them on Donahue ? “Me me me so horny”. Fucking genius. Steal other people’s shit and make 100 million. I still occasionally listen to that album today.

Van Halen made money on that one!🤘🤣

I have one tape that my cousin and I recorded with a mic in front of some Marshall cab he had in the 90s. We used our shoes stacked on top of each other to make a mic stand lol. I don't have a tape player, but I will keep that tape forever, especially since he is gone now.

Oh man, probably not unfortunately. But I definitely used a yellow sony sports boombox to record a bunch of crappy punk songs ages ago.
I also have a CD from 2002 of some of my shitty songs that were recorded in a studio (paid bassist and drummer) because my dad was awesome and paid for time.
And I just took possession of a VHS tape that has a high school performance on it, also from 2002. I'd love to get that digitized.

I have my audition that got me into a four song demo for Atlantic

(Wish I could listen to it every once in a while)

somewhere in a box in my basement there is a hi8 video tape of me at 15 or 16 playing Slayer's Show No Mercy start to finish on my sunburst washburn lyon strat copy. i'm not in any big hurry to see me a that age again. i had glow up.
