How to remove rust from an amp chassis?

What would worry me is getting metal shavings or rust dust all over the amp. How bad is it? If it really needed to be cleaned off, I worry that you'd probably want to pull the circuit boards and pots to avoid any shorts, and then you'd just have to scrub off the chassis.

Lyle from Psionic Audio (I think) has a video. IIRC he scrubbed it down with WD-40. He might have chased that with Isopropyl, can't remember.
