...lets imagine for a short while that Diezel is going out of business (hope that never happens btw), and you have to pick another amp company or a single amp that'll be "as close as a diezel" to you, which one would that be?

anything goes:

Bogner
Elmwood
Peters
Custom Audio A.
Boogie
etc etc etc

P.S.
I know Diezels are unique, I know they're not going out of business, it's a "hypothesis game" so I can see which amp co. is closest to the Diezel tonal spectrum.

so, go.

so far I think a modded Marshall could more or less sound like a Vh4
Elmwood Modena based on the clips I've heard only, could be close to the Herbert/Einstein

I can do just fine with my Bogner Uberschall. There is no limits to the tricks I can do with this amp, I can make it sound close to Marshall & close to Diezel & some super cool dirty cleans. I'd miss my both Diezels for the channel one - I find no competition to replace that sound for me. Bogner Uberschall is my oldest amp & I was a fool trying to sell it once. I've spent a lot of time with it after I've changed my mind & I've learned my lesson. It simply rules!!!

I think it would take a fleet of amps to get near a Diezel. That's not to say I don't think any one amp is maybe as good as a Diezel, but as far as the tones contained within a VH4 or Herbert - Einstein even - it would take probably 3 - 4 amps to get near one Diezel amp in sound.

Probably the best solution would be to mix amps.

nice game! to replace my Einstein, probably I would try an Egnater mod-50 with the modular system; second option a custom audio, or bogner exctasy

I think I'd just buy two of each Diezel available...I don't think I'll ever get another amp tbh...

To semi-answer the q: I heard good things about the 5150 III, and the new Mark V...

Jeez, Joey, don't even go there, please!
However, to answer your question...have Peter build me an amp, and Duesentrieb.

as Herbert is built to last forever, i dont have to think about that.

lol, c'mon guys, play along....

we all know Deetzul won't go out of biz, but lets play uh! :gethim:

I'd go from Diezel...to Duesentrieb...to Elmwood, and if all of those amplifier companies go out of business.....Then I'll cut myself. :jedi: :force:

Ok let's play... although I dont like this hypothesis ;)

Which amp ??? Well, as other have said... even if Diezel ran out of bussiness, I will always have my Herbert... so I wont need another amp. I woudl buy another used Herbert to have it as a back-up for sure... ;) (off course, for that time, I will also have a Hagen, so thinking about getting another is not much likely).

Ok, let's keep on playing.... ;)

For my band pursposes, I would get a 5150 I or II.... (I've played the 5150 III and is a completely shit !!! really nothing to do with the originals Peavey 5150... This fender amp is that... Fender, and doesnt have the power and distortion of the real 5150s.

I'd also buy a poweramp, most likely ENGL, to run it with my Axe-FX Ultra... so really no need for other "real" amps...

That's what I'd do... Keep with Diezels, and Axe-Fx ultra ;)... what else can I desire ???

What I DO know for sure is that I'd NEVER get a Mesa or Marshall... that's for sure... (maybe an Engl SE E670 EL34...)

But dude... better not to talk abuot this... and better talk about the INMORTALLITY of P.Diezel and P.Stapfer ;)

I like the Boogie Sound. I would go with a Rectifier or a Roadster.
But one of the finest sounding solutions are two Marshall DSL100. This is a killer stereo rig!

And perhaps i would try cameron and splawn amps.

Though I can't really think of getting rid of my VH4, I would probably end up with either a Splawn or VHT Sig:X. Maybe a Framus Cobra.

But I don't want to think about losing my VH4. The only amp I can currently think of that might replace my VH4 could be Hagen, depending on what the amp will be like and sound like. On the other, having both, a VH4 and Hagen would be even better, not to think about a Herbert and Einstein as well :D

hehe, Splawn, VHT and Framus Cobra also came to my mind. :)

i almost bought a Framus Cobra 1 year ago - but then i thought "damn it, its out of my price tag, but i HAVE to know how these Diezels sound!!". you know how it ended

That is almost exactly how I got into Diezels. I went out to buy a new amp and checked out a lot. I was about to buy an Engl Blackmore but I wanted to know how the new Einstein sounded. Well, you can guess how it ended   A few years later I only parted with my Eini to get a VH4. I would have loved to keep both

i know how you feel - i had a "guest"-Einstein at home for 2 weeks - oh, how would i have loved to keep it. :(

lol, I bought an Einstein and recently got a Vh4 to see which one I'd like best and sell the other one......

.......non are getting sold, both are staying home :D
