I am an amp neree really . It’s been a decade since I last wanted a different guitar or even pick ups . What did it for me was taking a $99 Epiphone with $5 pickups . I could take that guitar and make insanely good tones out of my boutique amps . It taught me a lesson. I was good to go . No new guitars amps nothing . It’s also how I could afford amps . I never needed funds for guitars or pick ups .
Anyone else have any weird views like this ?

Some guitars just sound right and it doesn’t even matter what pickups are in them. Feels good to find one like that.

Conversely, some also just don’t sound or feel right no matter what you change, which can be frustrating if it’s an otherwise great playing (or expensive) guitar.

I’m the same way. Once I discovered the ESP LTD series I was good to go for guitars. They do everything I need mostly. I’ve been way more exploratory with amps than guitars/pickups. It’s only recently that I’ve been trying some Gibsons Les Pauls out.
Yep I’m the same . The amps today are just ridiculous and amazing

I like to play nice amps and quality guitars, but use the shittiest most garbage cables I can find. Thin gauge, Crackling, soaked in beer, none over 5 feet long. Like the ones you get in a shitty $79 chinese starter guitar kit.

I found an awesome Hondo strat at a swap meet for $70. No joke it blew away my early '00's American Standard in feel and sound. Had way more of that strat quack than my Fender. Couldn't believe it so I sold it and bought a Framus Cobra cab and pocketed the rest. Myself included, we are all guilty of putting way too much stock in a name brand popularity.

I've owned 7 guitars over 40 plus years but almost 70 amps over the last 12 years. I like experimenting with amps a tad more I think.

I hear high quality cables are quite affordable if you know your soldering iron 🤔

@griff10672 am I right?

Once I got the custom guitars I wanted, I came over to rigtalk and started with the amp collection because I wanted to try everything.
I could play a cheap junky guitar, but I have exactly what I want. I ain't going back.
