I was starting to fall out of favor with my Verellen Skyhammer. I usually only play it at "someone else lives here" volume plugged straight in, usually just to test wiring. Shame my Mesa stuff kicked it off stage, because it's an amazing amp, but it hasn't sounded right in a while; Kinda fizzy and weak.
I brought my pedalboard home and tweaked it, which of course means I had to play through it. That amp slayed with my board in front of it. Even when I had everything off, the signal boost from the buffers had it punchier and tighter. Turning on my Booster Mini had that amp singing like I remembered it. I guess boost matters sometimes, even on an amp with way too much gain already.
Always remember to boost it, kids!
